GUIDE ON MARA TOPI BUSH HOUSE IN KENYA
A country-style three bedroom house that has the appearance of a bygone era with a soothing jade corrugated roof that reflects the lush green of the plains where it is set, is the Mara Topi Bush House. Beautiful acacia thorn trees form the glade around it, and since this private house sits in the private Olare Motorogi Conservancy bordering Masai Mara National Reserve, you can spend your days on your photographic nature vacation in Kenya exploring both these wondrous worlds with their enchanting topography and exciting diversity of wildlife that also includes the Big Five of Africa and over 450 species of birds. You could also be a privileged viewer of the Great East African Migration of the wildebeest and zebras as its traverses across Masai Mara through the months from July to October. On some days, the migration might wander right up to your front porch. A mid-range accommodation by AfricanMecca standards, you can book the entire house for your family tour of Masai Mara National Reserve and spend a household vacation of seclusion with only your loved ones for company. A wide veranda runs down the front of all 3 rooms, one with a double bed and the other two with twin beds. Diaphanous mosquito curtains not only keep you secure from bugs but lend a dream-like feel to the rooms that have ethnic-style woven rugs covering part of the stone floors. En-suite bathrooms include a wooden vanity counter and shower area. But the most distinct element of the house is clearly its alternate safari ambience of stone floors and earth walls built on a base structure of rough tree trunks. Spend time in the spacious lounge-cum-dining room with its cozy feel that is only enhanced by the fire lit every evening in the hearth. Or relax outside on the covered, stone patio furnished with easy chairs. The rolling escarpment hills of Masai Mara in the distance create a beautiful backdrop for the glorious sunsets that you can enjoy with drinks in hand around a campfire. You can also have delicious al-fresco meals under the trees prepared by your exclusive chef who is a part of a well-trained discrete staff that takes care of your needs during your stay at Mara Topi on your personalized trip in the great plains of East Africa. The house is powered by both solar panels and a backup generator allowing you to charge your electronics at their power stations. Children accompanying their families on a wildlife holiday in this expanse of Africa will love to play in the open lawns under a parent and Maasai guardianship. When you take the broods on game drives, you can introduce them to a natural realm filled with regal lions, elegant giraffes, snorting hippos and short-sighted rhinos to name a few. As you travel through the outback of Masai Mara Game Reserve in custom-fitted safari vehicles, your experienced Maasai guide will regale you with exhaustive information about the behavior and habitats of the animals you see. Enjoy every moment of your game viewing where you will be able to view both large to tiny, diverse fauna and also the unique flora of the reserve, many of which are used to make curative medicines by the Maasai. When you visit their village, you get a glimpse of their fascinating craftsmanship as they fashion weapons and awesome bead jewelry or even see them milk their cattle, make fire and more. But for a comprehensive view of the stunning Masai Mara, AfricanMecca recommends a hot air balloon ride to revel in the magnificent world of this premier reserve. Note day game drives from Mara Topi Bush House are done in the public Masai Mara National Reserve and not in the private Olare Motorogi Conservancy due to restrictions in traversal rights. There is a possibility of doing game drives in the neighboring Naboisho Conservancy. Night game drives and bush walks are not available at Mara Topi House.
