GUIDE ON SERIAN IN KENYA
The refined elegance of Serian Camp offers the ultimate Kenya holiday retreat for guests who desire the utmost in service, location, food, guides and guest tents. The riverside camp is located within the Mara North Conservancy, a private section of land that complements the conservation efforts of Masai Mara National Reserve. Although traditional bush camps have inspired Serian, you find the highest level of luxury for your wilderness travel in Kenya. 7 guest tents, including one family tent, offer excellent privacy amidst the bush. Each tent is individually decorated with soothing earthy colors and native materials. Inside your boutique tent are cozy double beds, bedside lamps, bench and writing desk. The beds are draped with mosquito netting. Adjoining your tent is your private verandah with safari chairs, small table and breathtaking views of the river and beyond. The detached en-suite bathroom features beautiful dark stone and wood accents that create a rustic, yet sophisticated space. The double-vessel vanity, mirrors, flush toilet, stone bathtub with a view and shower gives you the comforts of home. For some AfricanMecca guests, getting to your detached bathroom at night can be nerve-racking in the dark as you have to unzip your tent and walk a few steps to get to it; though, it adds a wholesome experience of glamping in the wilds of Mara. Solar-generated power is available 24 hours per day, and charging stations are located in the reception area. The main areas of the camp are quite noteworthy. A charming stone and thatch mess tent invites long conversations and sharing of your action-packed African safari adventures. The plush white loveseats, ruby red pillows and the glowing fireplace entices you to rest a bit alone or with other guests, and the staff are always available should you require anything. Sunrise in the open expanses of south-western Kenya is a joyous time for both humans and animals. The welcome of a new day is celebrated with a gentle sound at your tent and the invigorating aroma of tea and coffee. As you prepare for your morning drive tour of Kenya’s pristine bush country, you consider the many exciting scenes that may unfold before your eyes. Your guide waits outside near the safari vehicle that will take you across the stunning landscape. Your exploration begins, and you can hardly contain your enthusiasm. The plains are dotted with a diversity of wildlife unlike any other on earth! Masai Mara Game Reserve is home to a profusion of residence species, including elephants, giraffes, gazelles, buffalos, elands, topis and other herbivores. The prey animals support lions, cheetahs, hyenas, crocodiles, leopards and other ferocious hunters. From July to October, the density of animals and predator interactivity increases significantly with the arrival of wildebeests and zebras that are on the never-ending Great Masai Mara - Serengeti Migration. The high intensity of your morning game drive ends with a relaxing bush breakfast, or you may return to camp. Before and after lunch, you have some time to get to know the people and places around the conservancy. Two of the most discerning vacation activities are walking safaris and Maasai cultural tours to a local village. After a spot of tea, your afternoon again intensifies with a twilight game drive in the conservancy followed by sundowners. Return to camp for a mouth-watering dinner. You may wish to retire to your tent, gather with other guests around the campfire, or should you have the energy, have your guide take you on a night game drive through the Mara North Conservancy. We want to make your time at Serian a special part of your dream trip in East Africa. To this end, your AfricanMecca Safaris representative can also arrange adventure mobile bush camping, Serian Tree-house overnight, river fishing and hot air ballooning over the Mara wilderness.
