Navigation Tip - Go Directly To Prices, Reviews, Map, Photos, Video & Room Rate Guide For Sanctuary Kusini Camp

Located in a remote section of the southern Serengeti, Sanctuary Kusini Camp offers marvelous game viewing experiences, luxury yet traditional guest tents and unique access to resident herbivore and predatory fauna, such as lion, buffalo, cheetah, elephant, leopard, giraffe, zebra, wild dogs, topi and many more.

From the camp, you have 360 degree views, and the Great Migration from December to March brings over one million wildebeests and thousands of zebras to give birth on the plains that surround the camp. Because Sanctuary Kusini Camp is among isolated rocky outcrops with no other permanent camps within the southern vicinity of the national park, you feel the remoteness while you receive individual attention from the professional, experienced and welcoming staff.

The seasonal movement of cheetahs brings as many as 80 of these graceful and lightning swift carnivores to southern Serengeti, and Sanctuary Kusini Camp is uniquely positioned to give you access to these incredible animals. The camp hosts a cheetah watch mission, and you are welcome to contribute to this important conservation effort during your Serengeti trip with AfricanMecca by photographing and documenting the cheetahs.

The camp also offers educational classes to help you learn how to identify each individual cheetah. A private airstrip near the camp provides you with easy access during your tour of Africa, and flights are available from Arusha, Zanzibar and Dar es Salaam.

Accommodation At Sanctuary Kusini Camp

Your charming and elegant tented retreat is nestled within isolated rocky outcrops and acacia trees. Because the camp has a small number of guest tents (only 12), the staff provides you with the highest level of service and pampering during your Sanctuary Kusini Camp safari experience with AfricanMecca, including a personal attendant to see to your every need.

Your spacious tent offers 48 square meters of soothing tranquility, including a large cozy bed with the finest linens, large hand-made rugs, a writing desk and a private bathroom. Every window of your tent is filled with views of the Serengeti wildlife roaming the vast plains. You spend time on your private furnished veranda watching the sunset, reading about the wildlife you see during your Tanzania safari game driving experiences and writing in your journal.

The camp also offers an intimate dining area, lounge and library, where you find volumes of books that describe the animals, cultures and landscape that make the Serengeti one of the most precious regions on the planet. Your personal guide also shares local knowledge during your Tanzania safari vacation at Sanctuary Kusini Camp. At night, after watching the sunset from the top of one of the rocky outcrops, you join other guests around a brilliant campfire to learn about each other and to share stories about your African safari experiences.

Safari At Sanctuary Kusini Camp

The Serengeti is recognized as one of the world's greatest protected wildlife areas. Your beautiful tour of Tanzania while staying at Sanctuary Kusini Camp takes you close to a variety of fauna, including powerful carnivores such as lions, leopards, cheetahs to spry hoofed herbivores such as gazelle, reedbuck, antelope and agile primates such as monkeys, baboons and myriad of avi-fauna.

The Great Wildebeest Migration is one of the most incredible wildlife experiences on the planet, and Sanctuary Kusini Camp is located near the wildebeest calving grounds in southern Serengeti National Park. On your game drives, experience the excitement of sitting amidst more than one million wildebeests while the females give birth to their calves and gently encourage them to stand and join the herd for the first time.

Your AfricanMecca guide maintains radio communication with the other guided safari vehicles to share last sighting, resonances and footprints. This extra information ensures guides maximize on tracking opportunities for an up-close-and-personal wildlife experience with you on every game drive. Immerse yourself in a unique adventure during your safari holidays in Africa with a day-long game drive, which includes a picnic lunch under the beautiful acacia trees that dot the landscape.

When you return to camp in the evening, enjoy sunset cocktails and canapes at the top of a rocky outcrop or on the camp's deck to watch the sun fade on the distant horizon. As the last light disappears, the fauna are silhouetted against the landscape as some bed down for the night while the nocturnal animals come out of hiding, including African wildcats, honey badgers, aardwolves, spring or cape hares, bat-eared foxes and many more. The expanse of the Serengeti is showcased during a hot air balloon safari, which you may request when you are arranging your Serengeti travel to Africa.

Dining At Sanctuary Kusini Camp

Mouthwatering meals are offered day and night during your stay at Sanctuary Kusini Camp, and the staff are always available to fulfill your special meal requests. Late in the morning, you return to camp to partake of a full cooked breakfast, including eggs, waffles, cereal, fresh fruit, coffee, tea and many other options. You may also request that your breakfast be packaged to take with you on your game drive.
