BEACH TOUR IN KENYA

Are You Planning A Kenya Beach Excursion? Scroll Down For Details..

As you dream about your paradisiac holiday to the Kenyan coastline, you probably imagine spending your days sunning on the beach and sipping delicious cocktails at sunset. Perhaps you are a high-adventure traveler who desires action-packed water sports, such as waterskiing, wakeboarding, kitesurfing, jet-skiing, sailing, windsurfing and more. What you may not know, though, is that the beaches of Kenya have many secrets, and AfricanMecca Safaris is your ultimate guide for a superlative coastal tour of magical Kenya!

Diving And Snorkeling In Kenya

Even if you are an experienced snorkeler and scuba diver, you will be mesmerized by the marine life of Kenya! The country is home to some of the world’s top coral reefs pulsing with aquatic life, so you are assured an exceptional diving and snorkeling vacation on Africa’s eastern coast. For your travel in South Coast Mombasa, AfricanMecca can arrange for a diving and snorkeling tour of Kisite Marine Park and Mombasa Marine Park.

Floating on the surface, you peer into the depths to see small creatures meandering through the coral, and you may also sight the sea turtles, whale sharks, dolphins and seasonal humpback whales. Some of the top dive sites are in Kenya, home to the second longest reef in the world. The reefs are home to surgeonfish, moorish idol, blue-lined snapper, spadefish, angelfish, lionfish, butterflyfish, scorpionfish to name only some of the finned inhabitants. Any experience level of diver will find a stunning and stirring experience in the underwater world around Mombasa.

Further north, Lamu is home to one of the distinct coral reefs in the country, and meritorious dive and snorkel sites include Manda Toto, Kiniyka and Kiunga Marine National Reserve. A variety of coral, such as staghorn, plate, madrepore, brain, boulder, organ, to name a few, are found at Malindi Marine Park. Flittering amidst these eerie formations are black-spotted sweetlip, wrasse, grouper, sea urchin, triggerfish, goatfish, emperor and so many more!

For a truly spectacular experience with Kenya’s coral reefs, we highly recommend Watamu Marine Park. At low tide, the water pulls back from the reef to expose the intricate and bizarre corals and its varied marine life. Many of the 20 dive sites at Watamu are within a 30-minute boat ride, and the most advanced is known as “The Canyon” where white-tipped sharks have been sighted.

Deep Sea Fishing In Kenya

Looking for world-class angling for your seaside trip in Kenya? The Indian Ocean along the eastern Kenya hosts an array of marine titans that challenge beginners, advanced and professional deep sea fishing enthusiasts. You simply cannot imagine a more heart-pounding, adrenaline-pumping aquatic activity when the bite triggers and you are about to raise. The phenomenal bill species found off the coast of Kenya attracts the world’s best competition anglers.

In fact, the ILTTA World Championships and other international tournaments are sometimes held at Watamu. Swordfish, spearfish, dorado, three varieties of marlin (black, stripped and blue), massive yellowfin tuna, giant trevally, sailfish, wahoo, kingfish and so many more hulks of the ocean are found at Watamu, Mombasa, Lamu and Malindi. If your ideal fishing excursion with AfricanMecca is lounging along a lovely creek, Kilifi also offers creek fishing for barracuda, mangrove snapper, queen fish, flathead and other species. If you prefer lake fishing, we recommend traveling out to Lake Victoria in western Kenya.

Historic Old Town Tours Of The Kenyan Coast And Islands

Another secret of Kenya’s beaches are the many Swahili towns that dot the shoreline, and AfricanMecca Safaris arranges your historic excursions of the villages and coastal settlements. Markets, artwork, dukas (small shops), food and other street-level adventures await! The 13th-century Island of Mombasa has a rich story interlaced with Arabian, African, Asian and European cultural influences.

One of the most significant landmarks during your tour of Mombasa is Fort Jesus, built by the Portuguese in 1593 near the Old Port. In 1962, a museum was opened on the site. With a history that dates back to 1498, Malindi Town tour offers an insight into colonial times both on the old town streets, by the shore at the Vasco da Gama Pillar and in the Malindi Museum.

For your tour of Kilifi Town, we recommend you visit Mnarani villages, Kilifi Boatyard as well as the local markets. Tour of Lamu, though, is by far the most enchanting of all the island destinations in East Africa. Designated as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, the authentic 14th-century Lamu has escaped the influence of the modern world. Donkeys trod along stone alleys that are filled with the aroma of fused spices. The unspoiled Swahili architecture is inimitably superb with delicate details in almost nook and cranny, from painstakingly handcrafted design doors, balconies, limestone edifices to baraza seating where elderly, wise men conversate and much more.

Ruins, Festivals, In-Land Habitats And Coastal Attractions In Kenya

Still want more for your beach travel in Kenya? AfricanMecca can also arrange tours of one of Kenya most studied archaeological sites — Gede Ruins near Watamu, as well as Mnarani Ruins near Kilifi, a site that dates back to the 14th century and includes a small mosque and the Great Mosque built in 1425. Charming Lamu also offers dhow sailing and two festivals — Lamu Dhow Racing Festival and Lamu Donkey Racing Festival! We can arrange excursions of Kenya’s coastal inland habitats at two sites near Watamu. Mida Creek features mangroves, sand and mud flats, all part of its tidal ecosystem.

Arabuko Sokoke Forest Reserve is home to distinct endangered species and is some of the last remaining tropical forests in Africa, along with the forests at Shimba Hills Reserve. For our guests who desire to see Kenya’s slithering snakes, a tour of Bio-Ken Snake Farm is a must! Discover these and many other hidden gems along the East African coastline during your next trip to Kenya! AfricanMecca can arrange your beach experience in combination with action-adventure wilderness safaris, or as a stand-alone experience. Whatever your desires, we tailor your safari vacation experience in Kenya to exceed your every expectation!
