THE SANDS AT NOMAD IN MOMBASA
Navigation Tip - Go Directly To Prices, Reviews, Map, Photos, Video & Room Rate Guide For The Sands at Nomad
Should you prefer a deluxe beach holiday in East Africa, The Sands at Nomad offers a lovely setting of warm, sandy beach and turquoise Diani waters amidst 25 acres of forest that is preserved by the hotel, giving you plenty of places to explore and enjoy. The staff are admirable with children even though the accommodation is geared towards couples and honeymooners, so you can feel confident that your entire family will have the beach experience of a lifetime! The range of 37 room includes standard, cottages and suites to meet the needs of solo travelers, couples, families and groups, and you have a choice of ocean, forest views or sea-breeze (no sea view). The Forest View rooms are rudimentary. All rooms include en-suite bathroom, mini bar, air conditioning, personal safe and telephone. Wi-Fi is available in the common central areas and around the pool zone. As you plan your restful beach vacation in the south of Mombasa with AfricanMecca, the resort’s room choice can be a significant factor in the type of experience that you have, especially concerning privacy. The less expensive rooms in the main building have very thin walls, so sound travels between rooms quite easily, and the beach cottages, which are set away from other rooms, offer the best sense of solitude with direct ocean views, as well as additional amenities, such as a private outdoor area with lounge chairs. For corporate travelers, The Sands at Nomad has a business center and free high-speed internet access. The hotel’s dining options provide you with palatable food, although some of the dishes can be bland and the service can be inconsistent. The normal meal plan only includes breakfast which is not the standard in Diani. This does not offer any rooming value when guests have to pay extra for dinner compared to other competitor accommodations in the South and North Coast of Mombasa that include dinner as a standard meal inclusion. The menu includes international choices, such as Japanese sushi and Italian pasta dishes, and wine, spirits, beer and cocktails are served at the Beach Bar and Rivas Bar. The pina colada are first-rate. Take a refreshing break from your “fun in the sun” beach tour on the Indian Ocean with sweet delights and fruit juices from the Ice Cream Parlor and then lounge by the pool. You may also wish to rejuvenate with one of the many treatments at the spa or with yoga, Zumba or aerobics at the fitness center. Aquatic sports, day tours and long strolls down the beach make for a memorable beach trip to Mombasa, and the AfricanMecca provides you with strategic access to the best locations for discovering beautiful coral reef marine life while scuba diving and snorkeling at Kisite Marine Park, hooking a massive marlin on a deep sea fishing excursion, learning about the historical and cultural landmarks around Mombasa (view island map), shopping for arts and crafts at street markets, dining aboard a traditional Arab dhow and much more. Should you travel to Mombasa Island, notable local attractions that make for interesting beach travel in Kenya are Fort Jesus, the windy narrow streets of Old Town and its local Swahili people, Akamba Handicrafts Cooperative, just to name a few of the places to visit.

My daughter's and my trip that AfricanMecca arranged to South Coast Mombasa, Diani Reef Beach Resort was awesome. We laid on the beach quite a bit, but did manage to take in camel rides and also snorkelling.
