Navigation Tip - Go Directly To Prices, Reviews, Map, Photos, Video & Room Rate Guide For Lake Ndutu Luxury Tented Lodge

Known as the Southern Plains, the southern portion of Serengeti boasts expansive grassy plains where AfricanMecca guests are treated to exceptional wildlife tours where they may witness grazing herbivores attracting sly feline hunters. Encompassing Lake Masek, Lake Ndutu, the Gol Mountains, Naabi Hill and the Ngorongoro Highlands to the southeast, the region also includes the Maswa Woodlands and Kusini in the south.

The area is quite spectacular any time of year, but from December to March is the greenest time, when the rains help paint the landscape a vivid emerald. The abundance of food brings grazers from far and wide, including the immense wildebeest herds of the Great Serengeti Migration, who arrive for the calving season. The prey animals, in turn, attract the keen senses of lions, cheetahs, leopards and other meat-eaters. The result is a continuous battle for survival.

Set amidst iconic acacia trees in the Tanzanian backcountry overlooks its beautiful namesake lake, Lake Ndutu Luxury Tented Lodge is perfectly suited for your nature-centric wilderness vacation. The camp operates in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area of the southeastern Serengeti plains, giving you convenient access to wildlife viewing and varied safari activities. The friendly staff make you feel welcomed and provide each guest with special treatment and professional attention.

Accommodation At Lake Ndutu Luxury Tented Lodge

Lake Ndutu Luxury Tented Lodge offers many common areas to allow you to completely relax and unwind when you are not partaking of the many engaging safari activities, such as game drives, nature walks and hot air balloon safaris, in this distinct part of northern Tanzania. You can take a dip in the swimming pool, relax in the shade of the viewing deck with a cocktail and browse the sundries and gifts at the curio shop. The concierge can help you in any way needed, and the staff can also provide laundry service on request. Meals are served in a comfortable dining tent (Simba Restaurant), and the Lion’s Den Lounge offers a stocked bar and lovely views of the lake.

Each of the 20 guest tents is subtly decorated to reflect the natural treasures of Tanzania. The tents measure 70 square meters and can be configured as double, twin, triple and family. Each tent sits upon an elevated wooden platform, and netted windows bring nature indoors. Furnishings in the sleeping and lounge area include a bed with mosquito netting, sofa, coffee table, nightstands with lamps, safari wardrobe, writing desk with chair, mini-refrigerator, personal safe, luggage rack and dressing table.

The ensuite bathroom features dual wash basins, indoor and outdoor showers, flush toilet, hair dryer and running hot and cold water. Your tent also features a tranquil private balcony with chairs and a small table so that you can read, journal and watch the animals in privacy.

Parents with children can opt for the family suites that have three separate tents that are connected via a deck. Each tent has a private glassdoor entrance and floor to ceiling glass windows in addition to the features of the individual guest tents. One of the tents in the family suite has a ramp for guests with limited mobility. Tents that are situated away from the central areas and family suites have the most privacy, and honeymoon couples may prefer the safari romance of the tents that are closer to the lake.

Safari At Lake Ndutu Luxury Tented Lodge

Seeing gazelles, impalas, zebras, buffaloes, elands, topis and other foraging creatures spread across the plains keeps your attention on the beauty that surrounds you. After the short rains, you also see incredible herds of wildebeests followed by thousands of zebras, all part of the Great Migration. Southern Serengeti is also the host of one of the most touching experiences of the migration: calving season, during which an estimated 8,000 calves are born over a period of three weeks.

Our professional guides stand ready to give you a memorable bush travel experience in the Serengeti ecosystem of northern Tanzania. With their extensive knowledge and experience in the region, you are sure to locate a lioness hunting to feed her cubs or a lone cheetah sitting atop a mound, watchful for prey animals.

Early mornings and late afternoons / early evenings are the best times to observe the wildlife in Serengeti because cooler temperatures bring the animals out of the shadows. For this reason, we offer morning and afternoon game drives so that you can see the behaviors predominant at both times of day. For a more intimate perspective on the southern Serengeti habitats, our guides will take you on a nature walk to explore the tiny details of the flora and discover the area’s much smaller denizens. One of the most romantic activities for your special trip, though, will be hot-air ballooning over the Serengeti with a champagne breakfast upon landing — a truly classic African experience. Complement your safari with a cultural visit to a local Maasai village.

Dining At Lake Ndutu Luxury Tented Lodge

Being in the heart of the African bush does not mean that you will lack delectable meals during your safari bush holiday! The dining tent offers dining on an elevated decked platform where you can enjoy the unfettered sights and sounds of the wilderness. The meals are quite delicious, and the chef takes pride in sourcing local ingredients to create fresh and flavorsome dishes.

Breakfast is an array of continental choices, such as cereals, eggs, waffles, bread, fresh fruit, jams and other morning fare. For lunch, the chef prepares platters of local meats and cheeses that pair well with fresh fruits and vegetables. Should you prefer, the chef can prepare a yummy picnic lunch to enjoy amidst the wildlife at the end of your extended morning game drive.

Afternoon tea is served before your evening activity. Dinner is a culinary event at the camp. You join other guests in the mess tent to sample the chef’s preparations of Indian, Chinese and Italian meals that may include a selection of meats, vegetables, soups, salads and a delicious dessert. With advance notice, the chef will gather ingredients for special dietary requirements, such as vegetarian and gluten-free. Please advise your AfricanMecca Safaris representative of any meal requests.
