Serengeti National Park in northern Tanzania is one of the world’s most cherished wilderness areas. The Great Wildebeest Migration and year-round wildlife viewing bring people to the park from almost every corner of the planet, yet guests can still find an intimate safari experience in the eastern area of this African icon. Its unique landscape is a breathtaking combination of granite kopjes, savannah, valleys and mountains.

Here, guests witness an abundance of resident species. Zebras, giraffes, Thomson’s gazelles, elands, buffaloes and other herbivores enjoy short grasses and lush foliage, thanks to the presence of water in nearby waterholes and rivers. The highest concentration of cheetahs on the African continent, providing many guests with the thrilling spectacle of a hunt by the world’s fastest land animal. Other hunters include lions, hyenas, leopards, African wild dogs and jackals, to name only a few.

Just a short 45-minute drive east from the Seronera Airstrip is Lemala Nanyukie Tented Lodge, which offers an upscale safari holiday accommodation with access to secluded game viewing as well as convenience to eastern Serengeti. The camp is open year-round at its location just outside the central Seronera wilderness, and is surrounded by kopjes, grasslands and acacia trees.

Accommodation At Lemala Nanyukie Tented Lodge

Prepare yourself for a unique tented experience that combines contemporary style with superb service in a remarkable setting. Lemala Nanyukie Tented Lodge is decorated with a modern flair, using neutral tones against white to create elegant, inviting spaces. Wood, fabric and stone accents evoke romance and add hints of color to excite the senses.

The main tent at the camp features a lounge with small conversation areas as well as places for small groups to gather. The bar offers beer, wines and spirits for your enjoyment indoors or on the wooden deck that overlooks the
plains of Serengeti. After a game drive or upon rising in the morning, guests can enjoy a refreshing dip in the swimming pool, browse the craft offerings at the camp shop, or relax with a massage in the spa tent.

For your adventure vacation, Lemala Nanyukie Tented Lodge offers 15 ensuite tents that are spaced for privacy and for maximizing views of the Tanzanian wilderness. Fourteen of the tents have super king and twin beds, and five of these also have day beds to accommodate as a triple room. A two-bedroom tent is also available for families and small groups.

The interior of the tents features large beds with mosquito netting, a sitting area, a writing desk with camp stationery, and chandelier lighting that is supported by solar energy. The en suite bathroom has a double vanity, shower, flush toilet and free-standing soaking tub. Other amenities include charging ports and free Wi-Fi. The front of the tent has a wooden deck with sunken sitting area, lounge chairs, outdoor shower and private plunge pool.

Safari At Lemala Nanyukie Tented Lodge

The location of Lemala Nanyukie Tented Lodge in is quite special in that guests have access to both eastern Serengeti game viewing and exploring areas that are more popular travel wilderness in central Serengeti. In this way, you may witness wildlife behaviors that few people are able to observe. The Seronera area is known for the diversity of wildlife and larger populations, thanks to the many water sources in the region. This attracts animals of all sizes to a relatively few number of sites.

The energy of the central area changes significantly when over 1.5 million wildebeests arrive in the area as part of the
migration (best time to go). This occurs twice each year — from April to June, which coincides with the long rainy season, and from November to January, which is the shorter rainy season. In eastern area, the migration moves south from central in between October and November. During other times of year, guests see resident prey and predator species, including a large concentration of lions.

Game drives are the best way to experience the largest area of eastern Serengeti, but we recommend that you schedule time during your bush trip for other types of experiences as well. Guided nature walks allow time to study the smaller details and discover the little mammals and insects that may be missed during a game drive. You can also enjoy the park aloft; a hot-air balloon tour high above the plains gives you a bird’s-eye perspective and is certain to be a memorable part of your travels in Tanzania.

Dining At Lemala Nanyukie Tented Lodge

Lemala Nanyukie Tented Lodge complements your immersive touring experience at Serengeti Park with gastronomical delights that tempt your taste buds. Using locally sourced produce and ingredients, the chef prepares a lovely sampling of dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Afternoon tea is a tradition in Africa, and this special treat is served in the late afternoon, just before your evening activity.

With so much beauty around the camp, Lemala Nanyukie offers meals at various locations on the camp property, from outdoor dining under the stars to poolside lunches. Private dining can be arranged for a special celebration or couple’s night. You can also enjoy your breakfast in the bush or request a picnic lunch. After dinner, guests typically gather around the campfire for cocktails, or you can retreat to your tent for some quiet time.

Things To Note When Staying At Lemala Nanyukie Tented Lodge

  1. The camp is located 45 minutes from Seronera Airstrip.
