GUIDE ON SERENGETI SOPA LODGE IN TANZANIA
In the awe-inspiring sweeping wilderness of the Serengeti National Park, the Serengeti Sopa Lodge seems like a haven of human habitation. Standing under the shade of acacia trees, the lodge offers a stunning view of the Tanzanian landscape offering an ideal accommodation on your African holiday. Because of its location in the Nyarboro Hills in the south-west side of the Serengeti central sector, it offers you the perfect vantage point to watch the stunning spectacle of the seasonal migration of massive herds of wildebeest as they follow the Mbalageti River towards the Western Corridor. Elephant, waterbuck, warthogs, zebra, giraffes, buffalo, lions, hyenas and a host of other wildlife native to the Serengeti are within viewing distance from the lodge. The Serengeti Sopa Lodge was established in 1992 to cater to the influx of tourists traveling to Africa when accommodations in Serengeti were scarce. In addition to offering accommodation to AfricanMecca safari enthusiasts from large groups, families with children and independent couples, the Sopa Lodge is also a well-known lodge for large family weddings because of the high number of rooms available and its rooming affordability in the Serengeti. On request, the lodge can arrange for the groom and bride to have the Maasai wedding traditions embedded in their ceremony with its customary costumes. The lobby overlooks the swimming pool where you can relax beside it in comfortable recliners and enjoy lazy afternoon siestas or the breath taking sunsets. The reception area and the dining rooms both have glass panels covering an entire wall so you can take in the magnificent view available on show.
Accommodation At Serengeti Sopa LodgeAfricanMecca guests on their Tanzanian tour can stay over at the Serengeti Sopa Lodge which offers 69 rooms including one that is equipped to take care of the special needs of the physically challenged. A unique feature of the rooms is their size which is large enough to accommodate 2 queen-sized beds, and is perfect for families with young kids on a Tanzanian safari vacation. Each room comes with its own bathroom and is equipped with a shower area, wash basin and a hairdryer. Also on offer are 4 two-level suites. These suites have a lounge area on their lower level and a bedroom on the upper levels. King-sized beds stand on wooden platforms and the bathrooms come with a separate outside shower area and an indoor bathtub that faces the rolling plains. The rooms have balconies or verandahs furnished with deck chairs and tables and glass-paned windows so you can view the awesome kaleidoscope of colors the land displays as the day wears on. The entire lodge is adorned with African artifacts and you will see warm earth tones which reflect the landscape everywhere in the décor. Relaxing chairs with cushions and pillows in rich tribal colors are best positioned when most needed. Beautiful metal lamps create a soft cosy ambience and the low roof with wooden beams only adds to the inviting, at-home feeling. Carvings in wood and metal in every corner adds a touch of African culture to the charm of the lodge.
Safari At Serengeti Sopa LodgeNo Serengeti tour can be complete without the customary game drives. While at Serengeti Sopa Lodge, you can head out on an early morning and late afternoon game drives or even full day excursions. The safari vehicles are customized and built specially to cater to such Tanzanian photo safari trips. Each vehicle is equipped with radios communication so that the AfricanMecca guides can share fauna intelligence to best track wildlife for maximal viewing. Drinks and small snacks are also available for your comfort, and can be ordered before heading out. Trained, experienced and expert safari guides will accompany you. You can watch the annual movement of the herds of wildebeest and zebra as they look for fresh grass. Lions, hyenas, cheetahs, leopards and other carnivorous beasts can be seen looking for easy meals or napping in the heat of the afternoons. Crocodiles have their share of the pickings as the herds cross the Grumeti and Mara Rivers and lie basking on the river banks, but this is best experienced during the migration crossing further west and north of Serengeti.Besides these animals, there are more than 500 species of birds and also black rhinos, hippos, giraffes, a wide variety of antelopes from dik diks, impalas, gazelles, elands, hartebeests to klipspringers etc. While touring Africa one cannot help but be humbled at the sight of the ancient ritual of the migration that occurs year after year since time immemorial. These herds have been following an instinctive call since before the advent of humans and will continue to follow it long after sapiens are gone. The burst of new life, the mating games, the struggles over territory and the hunting of the predators are all indicative of centuries of fruition. You are invited to take an African safari and witness the fruits of this evolution.
Dining At Serengeti Sopa LodgeMeals at the restaurant are an enchanting experience by itself. You can opt to just have aromatic, warm tea and coffee before heading for your early morning game drive activity. Breakfast, lunch and dinner can be enjoyed in the dining room which follows the color scheme of the lodge of earth, sparkling blue and ochre. You are served a sumptuous breakfast which includes all the elements of Western choices such as eggs, juices, waffles, toast, cheeses, bacon, coffee, fruit, etc. Luncheons are again exciting meals laid out in the dining room. And you can pick from a vast array of food served on the buffet. Post lunch, you have the option of lazing by the pool or taking a walk in the bush on the lodge grounds under the supervision of an experienced AfricanMecca guide. The bar is a great place to enjoy evening drinks and watch as the sun sets on the Serengeti. Dinners are themed events, and sometimes are accompanied by live performances of Maasai singing and dance which will make your Serengeti trip memorable.

AfricanMecca's professionalism and care understands that what distinguishes Africa is its authenticity, the land, people and wildlife who do not share our world of fashion and fanfare that distinguish so many travel companies today.

SAFARI TRIP IDEA FOR SERENGETI SOPA LODGE IN SERENGETI TANZANIA
When staying at Serengeti Sopa Lodge in Central Serengeti (Seronera River Wilderness), we recommend combining it with your Northern Tanzania safari to Tarangire, Lake Manyara and Ngorongoro Crater. End your trip with a Swahili cultural tour and beach holiday in Zanzibar.
You may optionally extend out to offbeat parks in Southern and Western Tanzania such as Selous, Ruaha or Katavi ending with a chimpanzee trekking safari at Gombe or Mahale by the relaxing Lake Tanganyika.
