GUIDE ON LIONS BLUFF LODGE IN KENYA
A western Tsavo location that offers you sweeping views of the 125,000 acres of Lumo Community Wildlife Sanctuary with the stately Mount Kilimanjaro and Pare Mountain standing tall in the horizon, Lions Bluff Lodge is a deluxe accommodation built into the side of a cliffside. Guests vacationing in this part of East Africa will be delighted with the unassuming rustic appeal of the lodge that is constructed almost entirely out of canvas, tree trunks and branches along with coconut thatch for the roofs. The main lounge-cum-dining room has a wide wooden deck overlooking a lesser watering hole where you can spend time watching terrestrial wildlife coming to drink. You can also spend your evenings watching spectacular sunsets while sipping cool drinks from the bar. The lodge has 12 tented rooms, each erected on wooden decks offering splendid vistas of the verdant landscape. In all, the lodge can sleep twenty-eight guests at a time. The individual tents are set at a short distance from each other and stone-lined pathways lead up to them. Made of classic canvas, the tents have mesh flaps for doors and thatched roofs. Two of the rooms are combined into a two-level family suite while the others have either double or twin beds. The four-poster beds made out of tree trunks come with mosquito nets for your protection and cool cotton sheets ensure you have a good night’s sleep on your comfy tour of south-eastern Kenya with AfricanMecca. The attached bathrooms stone structures offering you the necessary amenities of a mid-range accommodation. There is also a viewing deck outside your room with light safari chairs so you can take in the amazing view (read more on where else to stay in Tsavo West).
You will leave for your game drive trip in the early morning after a wake-up cup of tea or coffee. Custom-equipped safari vehicles with pop-up roofs are arranged for you with a knowledgeable, well-experienced AfricanMecca guide on board who will introduce you to the Big Five of Tsavo West, the lion, buffalo, leopard, rhino and elephant. The older male members of the lion prides are almost mane-less. Tsavo also has the largest number of elephants in the whole of Kenya and you are likely to see many herds roaming the savannah along with ungulates like oryx, giraffes, gerenuks, zebras, Thomson's gazelles and so many more making your Kenya wildlife holiday truly memorable. End your morning game drive with a hot breakfast, cooked on site for you in the bush or return to Lions Bluff. Later you can go on safari walks accompanied by a competent naturalist for a close-up experience of the essence of Tsavo or on bird watching excursions to view some of the 600 species of birds that Tsavo hosts. You can go for game drives in the late afternoon and also at night to sight the nocturnal denizens of the wilderness. Sign off your authentic travel to Africa with a visit to the local village to understand the traditions, customs, pastoral cattle herding, husbandry and more.
