GUIDE ON SEVERIN SAFARI CAMP IN KENYA

Navigation Tip - Go Directly To Prices, Reviews, Map, Photos, Video & Room Rate Guide For Severin Safari Camp

Severin Safari Camp is a deluxe accommodation in the elusive heart of Tsavo West National Park. Built almost entirely of wood and stone with thatch roofs, the camp is located in a semi-arid plain, dotted with acacia and doum palm trees with watering holes frequented by varied traversing animals. During your stay at Severin, you will have the imprint of frill-living in a rural lodging on your Kenya wilderness vacation with AfricanMecca. Its ambience of serenity and closeness to nature is reflected in the open lounge and dining room-cum bar that is furnished with lightweight, wooden furniture. Choose a book from their miniature library or relax with board games. Complimentary Wi-Fi services are also available for your use. You can also shop for knick-knacks and handmade curios, the proceeds from which support the craft industry of the local people. Stone-lined, gravel pathways lead to the individual tented rooms scattered around the grounds. You will be ushered to your tent by an armed guard after dark where traditional lanterns with contemporary bulbs light the pathways at night. The camp has 27 tents and suites in all, some with twin beds and other with double beds with an optional third bed as an add-on. The octagon shape tents are made of canvas with a flap entrance and mesh windows that let in the daylight, cool breezes, scents of vegetation and resonances of the fauna countryside (read more on when is the best time to go to Tsavo West). Rollback entrances and a modest patio with safari furniture add to the charm of the tents. The en-suite bathroom is at the back and has a stone countertop, hairdryer and quality toiletries for your use. Safes, turndown and housekeeping services are also provided.

Each of the tented rooms faces the rugged wilderness where you might chance to see impalas, elands, waterbuck, zebras or giraffes stopping by for a drink at the waterhole. Families traveling in East Africa can opt for the Junior and Executive suites that are larger and have a lounge room. The main restaurant of the camp is the ‘Out of Africa.’ Breakfast is served buffet style and at lunch and dinner, you can place your order off the table-d'hote menu. On your delectable holiday in Tsavo, try some of their signature dishes like marinated meat dishes on hot stone and bouillon fondue accompanied with garden salads, fresh vegetables and herbs served with co-ordinated wines. The ‘Thorn Tree Bar’ serves tea, coffee, light snacks and cocktail drinks that you can enjoy beside the pool or the campfire that is lit every evening at Severin Safari Camp. Your personalized tour of bush Kenya will be filled with exhilarating game drives during the day when you might be able to see all the Big Five of Africa, the Tsavo man-eater lions with their unusual, short manes, buffaloes, leopards, rhinos and elephants. You can also spot some of the 600 species of birds that inhabit Tsavo West and the experienced, knowledgeable AfricanMecca guide accompanying aboard your custom-built safari vehicle will delight you with stories about the habits and behavior of the wildlife you see. Nature walks, visits to the local Maasai village, leisurely swims in the pool and perhaps a pampering session at the spa fill your wondrous trip to Tsavo West Park with memoirs of a lifetime.
