A blissful wildlife vacation in Kenya with AfricanMecca awaits you at Rekero Camp, a deluxe accommodation that is situated on the banks of the Talek River in the heart of Masai Mara National Reserve.

The wilderness is known internationally as a premier destination for authentic African plains safari experiences, and Rekero captures the romantic and adventurous spirits of our guests. The entire camp is designed to celebrate the beauty of the Mara ecosystem with minimal environmental impact. All structures are under canvas, including a mid-size dining tent under shade trees and a small lounge area that rests upon a platform with incredible river views.



To further minimize ecological disturbance, the camp is only open from June to March. By remaining closed in the long rains of April and May, the camp allows for the restoration of flora and fauna, thereby promoting the environmental health of the precious habitats and also for the staff to get some rest! 9 guest tents allow for a maximum of twenty guests, so you are assured the benefits of an exclusive Masai Mara tour, such as personalized service, exceptional food, immaculate tents with few in-camp guests, top notch personable guides and much more.

The décor of your tent enhances the subtle romantic ambience of the setting through a tasteful use of natural blonde woods, neutral colors and rich fabrics. The spacious tents are furnished with cozy beds, nightstands, bedside lamps, writing desk and wardrobe. The en-suite bathroom features dual-sink vanity, flush toilet and shower. You also have an extended shaded area with chairs and a small table from which you gaze across the vast landscape to see Cape buffalo, gazelle, zebras, impalas and other plains game.



Rekero Camp easily meets the needs of families and small groups with two larger family tents, each with triple beds. Your privacy is of utmost importance, so the guest tents are spaced 20 to 25 meters apart. At the far end of the camp, you may hear the hippos at night that may delight you. Guests with limited mobility can be accommodated by the camp with prior notification via your AfricanMecca trip planner.

Your pampered bush holiday in Masai Mara Game Reserve starts each morning when your personal butler arrives at your tent with freshly-brewed coffee and tea. The anticipation of a morning game drive motivates you to freshen up and head out into the bush. Many resident species can be observed at any time of year including all the larger predators like lions, leopards, cheetah, hyenas and more.



Wildlife viewing is quite special, though, from July to October when the wildebeests of the Great Serengeti-Mara Migration are present in jaw-dropping numbers. Your guide knows the unsurpassed vantage points at any time of the year. You may return Rekero for breakfast or extend your game drive to include a bush picnic.

Sip some afternoon tea before your late day game drive to see the animal behaviors that occur in the twilight hours. Return to Rekero for sundowners and dinner before returning to your tent to slumber peacefully asleep. The next morning, start your day with a spectacular enhancement to your remote African aerial travel – an optional hot air balloon safari over the reserve. You launch before dawn and drift across the plains for about an hour before landing and celebrating with a champagne breakfast among the flora and fauna of the Mara.
