GUIDE ON MARA BUSH CAMP IN KENYA
In a cozy nook of the Masai Mara National Reserve, almost hidden in a lush riverine forest is the Mara Bush Camp. A deluxe accommodation for adventurous guests traveling in this expanse of East Africa, it sits on a section of the raised bank, overlooking the seasonal Olare Orok River. The camp comprises of a series of tents, each created in such a way that they can be moved leaving minimal traces of their having been there. Solar panels create power for the camp; though, they also have a scheduled generator so you can charge your electronics at the outlets in the camp's lounge. Tarp covers the evened out floors, and canvas with mesh windows is used for the walls. The decor is a fusion of classic African and colonial elements with vintage-looking lanterns adding to the quaint charm of the tents. Spend time on your dream vacation in Kenya, lounging in their comfortable sofas with books from the camp’s library and a cool drink from their bar or a cup of hot tea or coffee accompanied with cupcakes. You can also sit in comfortable safari chairs on the riverbank and watch as hippos and crocodiles soak in the river water while other thirsty wildlife visitors stop by for a drink. Mara Bush Camp has 12 tented rooms, each sited at a short distance from apart to accord you the privacy you need. Four-poster beds with mosquito nets grace the room, and you can choose from rooms with either a double or twin beds. The tents can also accommodate an added single bed for a third AfricanMecca lodger. A rustic wooden chest, writing desk, sitting stool and woven rugs with African motifs add character to the tents that also include a canvas closet so you can unpack for your brief stay while touring Masai Mara Game Reserve. The en-suite bathroom comes with basic toiletries and curtained shower area. Easy chairs on the patio outside are a fine place to unwind and watch a buffalo or elephant as it passes you on its way to the river. Mara Bush Camp is not fenced, but Maasai Moran guards patrol the premises for your safety. Enjoy the serene ambience of the wilderness with cool breezes from the river as you have your meals in the camp’s covered dining area. They serve al fresco buffet luncheons under the trees while you can order dinners off the menu. Vegetarians will find a range of delectable options. If you would desire to stay out all day on your game drives, do request for packed lunches. Children holidaying in Kenya with their families will love the time they spend with the Maasai warriors as they learn to fashion bows and arrows and adorn themselves with bead jewelry. Instill in them a love for nature on your game drives in custom-fitted safari vehicles. Your experienced AfricanMecca guide will show how to discern animals and birds in the bush and talk to you at length about their behavior, character, movements, preferred diets and so much more. Explore Masai Mara on foot with a naturalist and learn about the medicines that can be made from varied floras. You could also take a balloon ride for a bird’s eye perspective of the stunning Mara landscape and fauna below you. A visit to the Maasai village close by for a tour steeped in their rich culture provided an opportunity for a fitting conclusion to your authentic trip in Africa.
