MACHWEO IN ARUSHA
With 6 cottages and 3 honeymoon suites, Machweo is a “Wellness Retreat” destination for travelers who want a touch of elegance before starting their exciting Northern Tanzania wildlife tour with AfricanMecca. The rooms have generous space and feature one large double bed or twin beds with an optional bed for a triple, all with mosquito netting. Windows allow light and lovely African breezes into the sleeping and living areas, and a window seat is the perfect spot to read a book or journal about one’s awaited adventurous holiday in Africa. Soft ecru wall colors contrast gently with wood furnishings and earth tones, and artwork from local communities add an authentic African flavor to every room. The suite bathrooms are designed with large bathtubs, and refreshing rain showers for the cottages, as well as vanities and flush toilets. All of the modern conveniences are available in each room, such as satellite television, mini-bar, tea maker, free Wifi range in most rooms (also available in central areas), hair dryers, security safe and much more but with the exception of room air-conditioning or fan though mobile ones can be provided upon request subject to availability. The restaurant serves cuisine that represents a delicious fusion of French food and local Swahili ingredients. Some of the favorite dishes among guests are homemade ravioli, pastries and dessert with Belgian chocolates, as well as the lamb curry with rice. Meals are served inside the dining room or on the outdoor balcony where you can revel in the breathtaking views. Occasionally, meals are served poolside or in the lounge. Newlyweds who are staying in the honeymoon suites may request private dining in their suites for a special experience while staying at this romantic Tanzania accommodation. The restaurant can also accommodate meal preparation for weddings, small groups, conferences and business luncheons.
The spectacular views of Mount Meru, sensational spa services and unique cuisine are all reasons to stay at Machweo, a charming Arusha accommodation that received Africa hospitality awards for “Best Safari Spa” and “Best Safari Cuisine”. The small number of rooms means that AfricanMecca guests can enjoy personalized, warm and friendly service that is complemented by a sense of seclusion and privacy. For those who seek a tranquil environment after a day trip into Arusha, Machweo features a spa and wellness center that offers massage and relaxing treatments, as well as sauna, steam bath and Jacuzzi. The gardens that surround your cottages will give y a beautiful and peaceful location to gaze across a Maasai steppe to see the Monduli Mountains. Walkways wind through fruit trees and birds share delightful songs that fill the early morning air. Just 10 minutes from the city, Machweo offers easy access for sightseeing tours of Arusha, and the nearly 4,600-foot elevation of the retreat helps guests acclimate before climbing Mount Meru, which is 45 minutes from the lodge, or Mount Kilimanjaro National Park - Africa’s Highest, which is around 90 minutes away. In less than six hours, you can be at some of Tanzania’s best wilderness areas, such as Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara National Park and many others. Machweo is a 25-minute drive from Arusha Airport and a 40-minute drive from Kilimanjaro Airport.

AfricanMecca's professionalism and care understands that what distinguishes Africa is its authenticity, the land, people and wildlife who do not share our world of fashion and fanfare that distinguish so many travel companies today.
