GUIDE ON SENTRIM SAMBURU IN KENYA
For the budget-conscious traveler in Kenya, Sentrim Samburu should be the last of the lodging preference you should select to overnight when all other options are exhausted via your AfricanMecca tour planner. The accommodation offers the basic features you need in each of its 21 rooms, and also the two-bedroom guest house, well-suited for your shoestring family trip in Samburu National Reserve. Standard amenities in your guest room include a free-standing fan, personal safe, full bathroom with permanent shower and flush toilet, to name a few of the necessary conveniences. The guest house offers a larger space, including kitchen, en-suite bathroom in each bedroom and comfortable lounge area for those late night conversations about your exploratory tour of Samburu. Lighting, hot water and other electrical needs are provided via generator and available at specific times. Hot water is available in evenings and mornings so you should be able to take a refreshing shower before or after your high-pace East African safari activities. Guest rooms are modest, and the elevated design ensures that cool breezes flow freely to keep you comfortable. You also have a private decked balcony for watching traversing wildlife and enjoying the incredible views of the Kenyan bush. Cell phone service is limited, and staff can escort you to a site near the river where service is normally available. For your safety, Sentrim Samburu features an electric fence and security throughout the day.
An extended morning game drive gives you the opportunity to see a large portion of Samburu Reserve, and your guide has the knowledge and insight to take you to the locations with the highest number and diversity of animals. Along the way, listen to traditional Samburu stories, learn about the significance of the ecosystems and gain a deeper understanding of the challenges of wildlife management in the remote sections of Kenya. If you prefer to remain in the bush for an extended period, AfricanMecca Safaris can arrange a private bush breakfast at a supplementary cost or you may return to Sentrim Samburu for breakfast. An alternative morning activity is a nature walk. The walks build upon your up-close-and-personal African wilderness holiday experience by revealing smaller details of the reserve, such as plants, insects, scat, footprints and much more. Along the way, your guide enlightens you about tracking techniques, medicinal uses of the flora and much more! Spend your late morning relaxing in the common lounge, souvenir shopping in the gift shop or taking a swim. Lunch is served at the camp, or we can arrange for a picnic lunch should you prefer a more authentic dining experience during your wilderness vacation at Samburu. Before a late afternoon activity, take a quick nap, meet other guests and make new friends or read your favorite book. During your afternoon game drive, observe wildlife behaviors that are unique to the later hours of the day. Return to your camp for sundowners and dinner before turning in for the night.
