A green riverine glade with trees and sparse shrubland is spread on the banks of a brown river, the Ewaso Nyiro flowing calmly by. This is the location of your dream holiday in the northern expanse of Kenya when you stay at the Samburu Intrepids Camp with AfricanMecca. Elephant herds visit the river to bathe and drink and might even stop by close to your room to sample the foliage while a crocodile might clamber out of the river for a languid sunbath. Despite being open to visiting animals, you can be rest assured because this mid-range camp has made special arrangements for your wild wellbeing. Have a leisurely swim of your own or sunbath around the swimming pool. You could also spend time in the shaded pool houses arranged close by with comfortable deck chairs. The rest of the tented camp is erected on individual wooden platforms resting on poles with steps leading up, covered with a roof of thatched doum leaves. The main guest seating area, dining room and bar are located in a single structure where you can spend time with a good hardcover from the camp library while sipping a cool drink. Samburu Intrepids Camp has 28 guest tents sited on the escarpment beside the river. The tents are made of canvas sheltered under thatch to minimize heating and their spacious decks have enough space in front where you can lounge on your leisurely safari trip in Samburu while absorbing the tranquility of the park with its many colored birds, vervet monkeys, lizards and perhaps genet cats. Some of the tents have doubles while others have twin four-poster beds covered with mosquito netting for your protection. They also include ceiling fans, cupboards made of mahogany and writing tables. The bathrooms are at the back and come with twin basins, shower area and quality amenities. Families traveling in East Africa in groups of four can opt for the “Luxury Family Tent”. These tents include two bedrooms, one with twin and the other with double beds. Both bedrooms come with their own en-suite bathrooms. They also have an exclusive lounge and a river facing deck outside it with a small seating arrangement. The camp serves you an appetizing range of options for your meals. Breakfast is a full hot affair comprising of freshly baked bread, sausages, eggs, bacon, yoghurt, cereal accompanied by juices, fruits and pastry. Lunches and dinners are wholesome meals and their specialties like the passion fruit pudding for your dessert and beef steak or red snapper (from the Mombasa coast) for your main course are truly unforgettable. Take a bush tour of Samburu Reserve in custom-built safari vehicles with competent, experienced Samburu guides on board. The park is famous for its own Big “Special Five”, the reticulated giraffe, Beisa oryx, Grevy's zebra, gerenuk and Somali ostrich. You might also see a pride of lions, solitary leopard or come upon a cheetah sharing a meal with her cubs. Go on nature walks and spend an evening gazing at the skies. The Samburu people who will direct you are not just naturalists but are also traditional astronomers and will enthrall you with their knowledge of the stars and constellations. Also take the time to visit their village and perhaps you might have a rare chance to participate in their cultural programs. Samburu Intrepids also has an Adventurers Club program for families with young inquisitive children where they will learn more on the skillset of being out in the wild to identifying varied flora and fauna. Plan your unforgettable vacation in Kenya to the Samburu National Reserve with the assistance of AfricanMecca Safaris in return for an adventurous and memorable dream trip -- guaranteed!
