WHERE TO STAY IN GOMBE PARK
The deluxe Safari Tier 2 promises high standards of accommodation and location, but on a mid–range scale, with less luxury and opulence, possibly slightly increased number of rooms and guests compared to a Tier 1. Other pointers are very good to excellent standards of rooming, comfort, delectable meals and personable service of the staff and very knowledgeable and experienced guides. Location of the camp is also one of the better ones sited and sometimes also one of the best. Some services and activities may be chosen as optional extras. The value Safari Tier 3 is for guests focusing on wildlife experience, who are budget conscious, preferring to economize on services and accommodation. A more controlled, timetable approach to meals and activities is acceptable along with inconsistencies in varied service experiences on safari and at the camp or lodge. In such a complicated hierarchy, there must be great flexibility and insight.
AfricanMecca management compares sites on the basis of annual, personal visits to test the veracity of self-report and its customer experience reviews, so that our clients can be assured a standard but tiered quality of service and accommodation in order to make an informed choice. In all three assessment tiers, there is a choice between lodges, usually permanent constructs of local materials, and tented camps with canvas suites, usually raised on decking and shaded with thatch. Tented camps and lodges share such attributes as en-suite bathrooms, comfortable furnishings, mosquito protection, lounge, bar and dining areas in authentic wilderness locations, but there is a wide range of amenities and services to offset to determine their overall ranking. For example, in Gombe Stream National Park, there is no really luxurious Tier 1: top of the range, highly upmarket primate focused accommodation.
In the deluxe Safari Tier 2 rank, Gombe Forest Lodge provides a small and uniquely personalized encampment base for your African primate travel experience, predominantly about chimpanzees, in a heart-achingly beautiful setting between mountain and lake shore, with spacious and comfortable hybrid accommodation which combines the airy comfort of safari tents with the permanence of solid timbered decking and thatched roof. A well-constructed central lodge area provides sophisticated lounge, dining and bar facilities. Your comfort and safety are assured and all your needs are graciously provided. Personalized logistics and preferred activities are arranged via your AfricanMecca trip planner. In stark contrast of a budget Safari Tier 3 accommodation in Gombe, you are left very much to your own resources at the TANAPA-owned Gombe Bandas, the only backpacker hostel-like option available, which offers very basic, questionable accommodation, with shared showers and toilets and limited ethnic canteen food.

If you want a safari company with whom you’ll feel truly cared for, then you won’t do better than AfricanMecca Safaris. Visiting Gombe had been a dream since I was a kid and watched the National Geographic with Jane Goodall.

I recently returned from a trip to Tanzania with a party of eleven people (Canisius College school group) visiting remote Chimpanzee and Wildlife in Gombe, Mahale, Selous. I am pleased to report that I was entirely satisfied in every respect.

We have just recently returned from our trip to Tanzania. The ladies in our party are fans of Jane Goodall so Gombe was on the list, we couldn't imagine a trip there. Our thanks to the AfricanMecca team and Raza for a most exceptional trip!

I booked my safari holiday through AfricanMecca. They were the most helpful company I have ever dealt with and I work within the travel industry. I had the most amazing time. The holiday went as clockwork with no hitches anywhere.

Dear Raza, Just to let you know we had a great adventure at Gombe Stream National Park. All went well. Saw chimps every day and lots of them on first and last day. Service and food at the camp was excellent. I would highly recommend this trip.
Ron Deutch - US Embassy - Bujumbura, Burundi
We saw more than 20 chimpanzees including chimps I've read about -- Freud, Faustino, Wilkie... so amazing. We had an absolutely amazing trip in Arusha, Serengeti and Gombe - everything went smooth as silk. Thank you so much Raza
Tiffany Heitz & Lesley Smith - California, United States
We have enjoyed nature in other places in the world, however nothing compares to the excitement of trekking chimpanzees in the hills of Gombe National Park. We sincerely thank AfricanMecca and Raza Visram for their personalized service.

EAST AFRICA SAFARI BOOKING TRIP IDEA FOR GOMBE IN WESTERN TANZANIA
When visiting Gombe Stream National Park by Lake Tanganyika, we recommend combining it with your Northern Tanzania safari to Tarangire, Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti (wildebeest migration). End your trip with a Swahili cultural tour and beach holiday in Zanzibar.
You may optionally extend out to offbeat parks in Southern and Western Tanzania such as Selous, Ruaha or Katavi.
