LUA CHEIA BEACH IN MAFIA
Navigation Tip - Go Directly To Prices, Reviews, Map, Photos, Video & Room Rate Guide For Lua Cheia Beach
The Lua Cheia Beach, sited on the north of Mafia in southern Tanzania, lends you a castaway experience in an island living ambience. The sheer beauty of the blue waters of the Indian Ocean spread before you as you stroll barefoot on the pristine white sands while the lush tropical greenery shelters you from the gentle warmth of the sunshine. The common areas of your seaside vacationing accommodation have a rustic look about them with their thatched roofs and airy areas open to the ocean breezes. Stone paved pathways lead between the structures while the coastal trees and shrubbery accord you all the privacy you need. Operating on eco-friendly principles, the Lua Cheia Beach offers just 6 spacious tents for your escapade island holiday catering to up to twelve AfricanMecca guests at a time. Each of the northwest-facing tents is sheltered under a thatched roof banda with a patio in front for enjoying the stunning ocean views. Your canvas tent has a solar powered fan to circulate air at night, comfortable bed and simple seating arrangement with colorful rugs on the tarp floor. The ensuite bathroom is in the back reached through canvas flaps and includes a shower and single vanity. Solar power charged batteries provide lighting at night and sunshine warms the water for your showers. The restaurant at Lua Cheia serves delicious meals accompanied by fine wines and other alcoholic drinks in their restaurant cum bar by the beachfront. You can look forward to multi-cuisine fare including vegetarian options. When the weather is clear, they also set up barbecues lit by driftwood offered up by the ocean. There is a separate lounge area on deck flooring which houses antiquated sofas, cushion seats, bar and a mini-library. Spend your days at Lua Cheia Beach reveling in the sunsets over the Rufiji and Selous Delta or go for swims in the tepid ocean waters. When the tide is out, you could go looking for ebbed rock pools, and in them a variety of sea creatures like crabs, starfish, urchins and many more. Go diving or snorkeling in the coral reserves to explore and view sea anemones, seahorses, groupers, angelfish, stonefish and clownfish among others in their milieu of a stunning variety of coral. Should you visit this part of East Africa in the migratory season, you might be able to swim with the whale sharks or watch humpback whales traveling south. On shore, you could view green and hawksbill turtle hatchlings almost enchantingly appearing from beneath the sands and making their way to the ocean during the hatching season. Picnic on the Funguni Sandbank at low tide or tour the Popo Park on Chole Island in the south. This park is host to the fruit bats, also known as flying foxes that have russet colored fur and faces that resemble foxes. Mafia and its lush greenery are home to small animals such as antelopes, monkeys and wild pigs along with a variety of birds. On the southeast of the island is a saltwater pool that houses an unusual species of jellyfish that has no tentacles and swims upside down. You could also include in your AfricanMecca itinerary a fishing trip in the deep seas of Mafia aboard the modest Mvumbuzi boat or simply enjoy the memorable sunsets over the Indian Ocean in a dhow sipping cool drinks.

The Zanzibar Stone Town tour guide was superlative. He was outstanding and gave us undivided attention. We felt that was great value and to be escorted round the market place and slave stations was like walking in a living museum.

We have returned from our African adventure and would like to thank you very much for your part in making this such a wonderful experience. We were lucky enough to time the Great Migration from the Serengeti, which was amazing.

Ras Nungwi was a beautiful property, the pristine white beach not more than forty feet from our lovely room, the Indian Ocean sublime. Raza, it was the vacation of a lifetime, again, thanks so much.
