TEMPLE POINT RESORT IN WATAMU
Overlooking the Mida Creek, the Temple Point Resort is a quiet haven of tranquility on the Indian Ocean and secluded location to experience your seaside trip in Watamu. The town of Malindi is about 17 miles away, and if you would like to visit the central locales of Watamu, you can reach it with a 10 minute drive. Temple Point Resort is a budget accommodation and you can expect basic no-frills amenities and just adequate service. Though, you might find that the hotel lacks maintenance in some areas and its small beach is located on the edge of the accommodation rather than directly facing. Also, on high tide, the beach recedes and is not entirely accessible. Temple Point is set in the middle of a lush, equatorial garden, and the rooms are located in divided Swahili-styled bungalows with thatch conical roofs that give it fused African setting. Twenty-five bungalows house 100 rooms. Some of the rooms have double beds or twin beds while others have three beds, all covered with mosquito nets. The rooms include elements of Swahili décor including Lamu-Zanzibar style beds and all have balconies or patios depending on the level where they are located. AfricanMecca guests can opt for rooms with views of the lovely coastal gardens or the expansive Indian Ocean. The rooms are air-conditioned and have standard amenities like ceiling fans, a safety deposit box for valuables and a TV. They also include a minibar and supplies for making tea and coffee.
The hotel serves you meals in their Club Restaurant and all meals are laid out buffet style. Take your pick from a selection of local and continental cuisine choices. You can go for either a full or half board when booking your rooms. The resort's bar faces the Mida Creek where you can sip cocktails while enjoying the glorious sunsets on the Indian Ocean. They also have a special Honeymooners' Pavilion that caters exclusively to newlyweds. Temple Point Resort has a spa and Jacuzzi for you and a swimming pool where you can dip to cool off or simply lounge beside. The resort has arrangements for sunbeds and parasols for you. On low tide, take a leisurely ramble on the beach with soft white sands underfoot, taking in the view of the impossible turquoise of the sea. Low tides will reveal little marine creatures in tiny pools left by the receding ocean waters. During the day, you can join in activities such as beach volleyball, pool, boccia, table tennis, tennis, soccer or try your hand at archery. If it’s the pool you love, then go for the aqua-aerobics. The resort also has catamarans, kayaks and canoes you can use. Your evenings at the resort will be marked by a spectacular display of Kenyan dance, music and acrobatics. Skilled dancers in local colored costumes offer you a slice of culture. Watch them or join in their dances, which reflect their love of life. When you book your Kenya beach tour of the Indian Ocean with AfricanMecca Safaris, request to experience snorkeling and scuba diving at Watamu Marine National Park, a must-do on your East African coastal vacation.
