OCEAN SPORTS RESORT IN WATAMU
The Ocean Sports Resort is a laid-back, easy-going accommodation for your non-frill beach vacation in Kenya, and if you are planning a family holiday on Watamu Beach with AfricanMecca, the location of this hotel or the nearby Turtle Bay Beach Club is an ideal spot to build a lifetime of bonded memories without having a mass of tourists on the beach when compared to the seashores of Mombasa. Couples visiting on their modest honeymoon or cushy solo travelers will love the natural beauty of the powder white sands, turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean and resplendent tropical greenery. This seaside hotel offers you good value for money with basic amenities and friendly, attentive service. The hotel is a sprawling property laid over an area of six hectares of carefully landscaped gardens with blooming flowers that turn it into a riot of color all year around. This bounty of greenery provides a habitat for many monkeys and bush babies, and you will be able to view many species of birdlife in the trees delighting you with melodies on your seashore travel in Watamu. Low tides are a perfect time to explore the small pools with marine life. The accommodation is located by the waters and corals of Watamu Marine Park. The rooms offered by this hotel all face the sea, and while some of them allow you views of the Indian Ocean, others are set a little to the rear of the property and offer you views of their gardens and the breeze of the azure seas. Ocean Sports has 28 rooms that come in different specifications to suit most requirements. They are all air-conditioned and have attached bathrooms with separate shower areas. Little patios at the front of the rooms have seating areas and every morning the staff brings you hot tea or coffee as per your preference. You can request for rooms with twin or double beds, all draped with mosquito nets. Some of the rooms are capacious enough to accommodate an extra third bed or a crib. You could also opt for the Family Room that is arranged for a household of four members or the Suite that has a distinct sitting area. The Beach House is suited for a group of eight AfricanMecca guests on their beach trip of Watamu and includes four rooms with two beds each. Two of the rooms have attached bathrooms that are very spacious. The Beach House also has a roomy lounge area, a kitchenette and a patio that opens onto the beach. The Ocean Sports Resort offers you delicious meals cooked with the fresh produce sourced from local farms and gardens. Seafood is cooked organically out of the sea with distinct East African flavors that add a special Swahili coastal touch to your meals. Some of the dishes are cooked Continental style and the restaurant also has a wood fire oven that cooks up delectable pizzas, breads and French croissants. You can choose dishes off the menu at dinner and combine them with wines from the restaurant’s varied list for a memorable dinner on your seaside retreat on the Indian Ocean. Ian's Bar is the hotel's beachside bar, and you can sip cocktails or fresh fruit juices while taking in the magnificent view of the expansive Indian Ocean and reveling in the soothing warmth of the sun. AfricanMecca can organize a range of activities during your exhilarating beach tour of this region of Kenya (read more on when is the best time to visit Watamu). You may opt to adventure out on a safari to Tsavo East or Masai Mara for a few nights or visit the nearby attractions e.g. Arabuko Sokoke Forest Reserve, Gedi Ruins, Mida Creek or even tour Malindi and Mombasa for the day.
