BEST TIME TO VISIT LAKE NATRON FOR A NORTHERN TANZANIA SAFARI
You may choose to schedule your tour of East Africa during the rainy or dry season at Lake Natron. Since this area is not a wildlife destination, the dry season does not see any concentration of wildlife – simply because the lake is highly alkaline, and terrestrial and mammalian life do not drink its waters. You only want to visit during the dry season because it is an excellent time for walking tours around the lake, and also for trekking up Ol Doinyo Lengai.
The short and long wet spring season from November to May with hot humid spells in January and February, though, brings new life to the area around Lake Natron, and you may prefer a more lush landscape for your African active-adventure safari. The flamingos of Natron lay their eggs normally during the end of the dry season in September and October but the hatching starts in the early parts of the wet season, and climaxing by December.
The rainy and dry seasons may also affect the price of Natron accommodations (read more on where else to stay), although the costs associated with travel and safari activities do not change. Your lake lodgings may cost less during the rainy season, which is typically the low tourism season. If you plan to visit during the wet season, though, you may also consider that roads and trails to and around Lake Natron may be more difficult to traverse, and this could affect the convenience and full availability of activities.

AfricanMecca's professionalism and care understands that what distinguishes Africa is its authenticity, the land, people and wildlife who do not share our world of fashion and fanfare that distinguish so many travel companies today.

EAST AFRICA SAFARI BOOKING TRIP IDEA FOR LAKE NATRON IN NORTHERN TANZANIA
When visiting Lake Natron (Great Rift Valley Lake), we recommend combining it with your Northern Tanzania safari to Tarangire, Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti (wildebeest migration). End your trip with a Swahili cultural tour and beach holiday in Zanzibar.
You may optionally extend out to offbeat parks in Southern and Western Tanzania such as Nyerere (Selous), Ruaha or Katavi ending with a chimpanzee trekking safari at Gombe or Mahale by the relaxing Lake Tanganyika.
