AfricanMecca Safaris commitment to preserving and protecting Kenya’s ecological, historical and cultural treasures extends into our network of accommodation suppliers. We believe that by collaborating with lodging providers that share our values, we not only enhance your guest experience, but we also create a synergy that benefits the wildlife, habitats and peoples of Kenya. Our preferred team accommodation suppliers all share a common vision – to promote sustainable tourism in Kenya that celebrates the preservation of wildlife, tribes, land and archaeological sites. In following with the AfricanMecca ethos, these teams follow environmental practices that protect vital habitats, and most operate completely in a viable manner. Our team accommodations enhance the quality of life by investing in education, medical care and employment opportunities for local communities. Their dedication, years of experience and commitment also make them competent resources for organizing and conducting some of our trip components in remote African wilderness areas.

Our preferred Kenyan team lodgings represent the finest of the best amongst the various tour lodgings. These suppliers work diligently and hand-in-hand with AfricanMecca to provide an exceptional experience that fits your preferred budget. Their dedication extends into the local communities and habitats, as portions of guest fees are allocated to local conservation and quality of life enhancements. To this end, each rooming provider has spent years developing and perfecting a unique brand signature in their lodges, camps, hotels and resorts. As you spend time in Kenya enjoying the many engaging East African safari activities and pristine wilderness areas, you begin to recognize these brand connoisseurs as proposed by AfricanMecca. We have provided an overview of sample lodging collection so that you begin to understand how each signature enhances your wilderness travel in Kenya.

The mission of the Great Plains Conservation in Kenya is to protect vital ecosystem that face threats from the modern world. In doing so, the conservation organization has embraced some of Kenya’s most brilliant habitats. The accommodations are developed with a thoughtful and intelligent approach that includes sustainable practices, low-impact activities and community enhancement. Great Plains Conservation also contributes to some of Kenya’s most valuable conservation efforts for big cats and other critically endangered species. Nestled between Tsavo and Amboseli is one of the conservation’s lodges – Ol Donyo Lodge in Chyulu Hills National Park. The lodge sits amidst 275,000 acres of the Mbirikani Group Ranch. 4000 Maasai individuals own the ranch lands that feature boutique suites and villas set upon a hillside overlooking savannah plains with the mighty Mount Kilimanjaro in the distance.

In Masai Mara, Great Plains Conservancy operates Mara Toto in the northern Masai Mara plains along the Ntiakitiak River. Only five bush tents are superbly sited amidst a riverine forest where the plains stretch out for miles. Also on the Ntiakitiak River is Mara Plains Camp in the heart of the 35,000-acre Olare Motorogi Conservancy. Safari Collection, another of AfricanMecca team accommodation supplier for your adventurous travel in Kenya, operates four camps and lodges throughout the country. One of the most beloved is Giraffe Manor in Nairobi. Set on twelve acres of private land, the ten suites are divinely inspired by the 1930s country-style experience. The most intriguing part of your stay are the antics of the Rothschild giraffes that freely roam the property and even join you for breakfast!

In the Samburu wilderness, the Safari Collection operates Sasaab Lodge. The lodge features subtle Swahili-inspired design and nine tented chalets with private plunge pools. Best of all, though, are the spectacular vistas that celebrate the stunning rugged landscape. From almost every corner of the property, you see the Ewaso River, the Northern Frontier outback, Laikipia shrubland and even Mount Kenya. Solio Reserve is noted as one of the most successful private rhino breeding reserves in Kenya, and Safari Collection operates the only guest accommodation in the reserve. Solio Lodge features six contemporary, large thatched villas nestled between Mount Kenya and the Aberdare Mountains. At the confluence of the Keekerok River and Sand River in the wild southern corner of Masai Mara lies Sala’s Camp, another superb accommodation in the Safari Collection portfolio. One of our most well-known and pioneer team accommodation suppliers is Governors Camp Collection. The portfolio includes camps and lodges that represent a slower pace of life in Kenya, a superb ambience for your discerning holiday in Africa. Governors Camp is located along the Mara River in an enchanting setting that is teeming with wildlife. Little Governors Camp is accessed by boat crossing of the Mara River on the fringes of the Mara Triangle. The 17-tent camp offers a peaceful and serene location to view wildlife at the grassy watering hole, as well as impeccable views of the Masai Mara plains.

Governors Camp Collection also operates the smaller, much more intimate 10-tent Governors IL Moran Camp along the Mara River where you feel like a personal guest of the hosts. Indeed, though, the crown jewels of this collection are the exclusive Governors Private Camp and Loldia House. Governors Private Camp is primarily reserved for small groups and families. Loldia House in Lake Naivasha features suites in a traditional colonial house, as well as individual cottages. Loldia gives AfricanMecca guests a truly authentic taste of the “Happy Valley” country-style living in central Kenya.

The Serian Camp portfolio invites you to escape the contemporary world and be transported into an untainted, authentic and quieter way of life for your dream vacation in the East African bush. The collection includes Serian Camp in Mara North Conservancy, a fused bush camp with seven tents. The camp also hosts the Mara Predator Project. Also in Mara North Conservancy is the premier Ngare Serian Camp. The four luxury tents are accessed by crossing a rope-steel bridge over the Mara River and can be reserved on an exclusive basis. Serian Camp also operates a camp that is a favorite for photographers and wildebeest migration buffs – Serian Nkorombo Mobile Camp in Central Masai Mara. The proximity to migration crossings offers exceptional photographic opportunities, and the five traditional Meru tents give guests an authentic mobile safari experience. For more than two decades, Cheli & Peacock along with its new partner - Elewana have operated some of the most exclusive accommodations in Kenya. The elephants of Amboseli National Park at the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro draw visitors from around the world, and Tortilis Camp offers eighteen tents with access to the park and the private 30,000-acre Kitirua Conservancy. In Meru National Park, Elsa’s Kopje offers nine hillside cottages overlooking the wilderness. Other accommodations in the collection include Joy’s Camp in Shaba National Reserve, Kitich in Kenya’s Northern Frontier, Lewa Safari Camp in the Lewa Conservancy in Laikipia, Elephant Pepper Camp in Mara North Conservancy and Sand Rivers on the southern edge of Masai Mara National Reserve. Cottars 1920s Camp and Cottars Private Homestead were part of the C&P portfolio, but Cottars are now operating and marketing their properties independently.

Hemingways Collection offers diversity in their portfolio of properties. For your cosmopolitan holiday in the Kenyan capital city of Nairobi, you can stay at the forty-five room Hemingways Nairobi, a boutique hotel. At the 50,000-acre Naboisho Conservancy, the ten tents of Ol Seki Mara Camp give AfricanMecca boarders front-row seats to the wildebeest migration in Masai Mara. The collection even includes a beachfront getaway – Hemingways Resort, a seventy-six room resort on the seashores of Watamu. The Out of Africa Collection is known for its exquisite deluxe touches that enhance every guest experience. The portfolio includes Elerai Camp in Amboseli National Park and Satao Camp in Tsavo East National Park. Sited on the banks of the Mara River is Karen Blixen Camp, a pioneering twenty-two tent property that setup the Mara North Conservancy.

The Out of Africa Collection also manages twenty-seven suites and tents at Severin Safari Camp in Tsavo West National Park. Two of our other partners in Kenya are Atua Enkop and Serena Camps and Lodges. Atua Enkop operates Elephant Bedroom Camp in Samburu, Mbweha Camp in the suburbs of Lake Nakuru and two camps in Masai Mara – Tipilikwani Mara Camp and Mara Ngenche Safari Camp. Serena Camps and Lodges manages multiple properties in Kenya, including Nairobi Serena Hotel, Kilaguni Serena Safari Lodge, Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge, Lake Elmenteita Serena Camp, Mara Serena Safari Lodge, Sweetwaters Serena Camp, Serena Mountain Lodge, Ol Pejeta House and Serena Beach Resort and Spa.

AfricanMecca Safaris is honored to work with many private camp owners. With far fewer resources than larger team accommodation suppliers, private owners face unique challenges in managing environmentally sustainable programs. We work with Royal Mara in Masai Mara and Sanctuary Olonana Camp. We also work with two camps that are operated by andBeyond – Kichwa Tembo Camp and Bateleur Camp in western Masai Mara.
