GUIDE ON MARA SIRIA CAMP IN KENYA
Unfenced against wildlife visitors wandering through the lush greenery atop the Siria Oloololo Escarpment is the Mara Siria Camp. Step out of your room and you are likely to meet zebras grazing on the grasses or giraffes munching on the Acacia thorn leaves, delicately picking them off with their long tongues. Away from the bustle of daily living, guests can vacation in the vast plains of Kenya in complete tranquility from an elevated vantage spot over the Mara Triangle and watch the seasonal Great Migration as it travels across the plains from July through September. Solar panels silently spawn the electricity needed to light the camp and charge electronics while maintaining the serenity of the campgrounds. The lounge and dining areas are both located in adjoining tents with tarp-lined floors, comfortable sofas and eccentrically carved center tables. Mara Siria has 14 tented rooms and cottages in various specifications to suit the taste and preferences of budget AfricanMecca travelers in Masai Mara who are looking for non-frill safari experiences at economical costs. If you like to experience a tented holiday in East Africa, you could stay in the eight tents located at floor-level with tarp covered floors, a king size bed and writing table. The attached bathroom is well equipped for your needs with all the basic amenities while the patio outside has chairs for relaxation. The camp also offers two deluxe tents that are set up on raised decks with wooden floors and a thatched roof. The bathrooms made out of Macera stones have a very pastoral look and include the necessary amenities. The two Maasai-style Cottages is another option for guests who prefer solid walls rather than canvas! These cottages allow you to peek into the traditional living styles of the rural people with their round shape architecture, mud walls and thatch roof. Each banda includes an attached bathroom and offers fine views of the plains below you. Later you could also visit the local Maasai village for insights into their way of life. If you are touring Africa with a companion where both of you need separate beds, you could opt for either of the two twin tents available that includes separate beds and the other standard amenities. Have your meals in the dining tent or in designated locations, each offering picturesque views of the landscape. Breakfast includes elements of a typical hot English breakfast with eggs, sausages, toasts, fruits and more while lunches and dinners are three-course buffet meals. Vegetarians can also be catered for. Sundowner drinks around a campfire while recounting your activities, interactions and viewings of the day with other guests is a congenial experience. The Masai Mara Game Reserve will enthrall and captivate you on your adventurous trip to Kenya, with its many denizens including the Big Five of Africa along with an amazing diversity of large and small mammals and over 450 species of birds (read more on when is the best time to travel to Masai Mara in wild Kenya). The safari vehicles you will use to explore are custom-equipped to navigate the plains topography and your experienced AfricanMecca guide on board will share with you the insights into the animals’ behavior that he has garnered through a lifetime of living with them. Go on bush walks to discover the fascinating flora, insects, amphibians, reptiles, trails, droppings and more. Balloon rides offer an aerial perspective of the plains land teeming with wildlife. Return to Mara Siria to spend your afternoon soaking in the keyhole-shaped pool and enjoying the scenic vistas around you.
