GUIDE ON ENKEWA CAMP IN KENYA
Nestled in a sheltered valley, at the base of the Kalema Mountain within the Olderkesi Wildlife Conservancy, Enkewa Camp is a modest accommodation surrounded by a pristine landscape of lush greenery. The entire camp is made of canvas tents in a field of wild green lawns dotted with verdant trees with a lounge and dining area both adorned with a rustic classic decor that is subtle charming. You will love the innovative hollow tree trunk bookcase, and distinct African curios lined up on the rough wood shelf with a tiny well-stocked bar standing in one corner of the dining area. Spend time on your bush holiday in Kenya with a book on the wooden patio of the mess area in safari chairs as you revel in the tranquil natural beauty of the camp. Immerse yourself in the magic of nature and rejuvenate yourself by absorbing the remedial energy of the earth while traveling in southern Masai Mara Reserve with AfricanMecca. Enkewa Mara has a collection of just 5 bush tents, each of them aligned with the earth's magnetic flows. Some of the tents come with double beds and others with twin beds. Ethnic themed wall hangings and woven throw rugs lend a homely feel to the tents that are set up on a flattened surface covered with a tarp. Large mesh windows allow in natural light and the scents and sounds of the wilderness. Use the wooden chest at the end of the bed as a safety box or for general storage. Books are placed in your tent for some light, enlighten reading during your safari trip in East Africa. The tent also has an adjoining seating arrangement that can be curtained off, as does the attached bathroom that includes a shower stall and adequate toiletries for your use. Enkewa Camp operates in strict eco-friendly principles and having lived in harmony with their biome for centuries, the Maasai seek to preserve it as untouched as possible. The camp is powered with solar energy with no use of pumps or generators that can disturb the serenity of the Mara. Their drinking water is purified with UV rays while all waste is disposed off efficiently. Enjoy the tasty meals they cook for you using fresh produce they grow in their vegetable garden and choose from a range of delightful global and Mediterranean gastronomy. Take a voyage of discovery and wonder on your vacation in this Kenyan outback as you view one of nature's most unique phenomena, the Great Serengeti - Masai Mara Migration of the wildebeest, zebras and gazelles as they race across the landscape in their quest for water and fresh grazing grounds. Listen with awe as your experienced and knowledgeable guide talks to you about the varied animals and birds you see and their behaviors. As you travel through Masai Mara in your custom-built safari vehicles, look for the Big Five of Africa, and on your nature walks, your bush guide will talk to you about the insects, amphibians and small reptiles you see and their role in the ecosystem. Also, learn about the medicines the Maasai can produce with the plants and trees of this sanctified biosphere. Night game drives and balloon safaris can also be included on your AfricanMecca itinerary. Complete your cultural tour of Kenya with a visit to the local Maasai village to understand a way of living that is founded in deep reverence for nature and its laws.
