GUIDE ON GAMEWATCHERS ADVENTURE CAMP IN MASAI MARA
The Ol Kinyei Gamewatchers Adventure is just one of the two camps sited within the private Ol Kinyei Conservancy that covers 17,500 acres of breathtaking wilderness in greater Masai Mara. This factor assures you of the ultimate safari experience of viewing the incredible wildlife on your backpacker-like bush vacation in Kenya with AfricanMecca, without the uproar of too of many guests. And the camp offers you more. You will enjoy the no-frills, authentic camping experience of staying in dome tents that can accommodate just two adults and perhaps a small child. Also, you will have a first-hand encounter with the warmth and friendliness of the Maasai staff as they help with your needs for your stay in their world. A wild biosphere that is filled with a natural rare beauty reflected in the lush green savannah of the camp location and the dense acacia trees that shelter the campsite. In addition to the 9 small tents this discrete accommodation provides to budget guests traveling to Masai Mara, it also has a separate mess tent where the serenity of your surroundings, only heightened by the songs of birds and calls of animals, creates the perfect verbalized backdrop for the wholesome meals the camp chef cooks for you. Enjoy a hot breakfast and three-course lunches and dinners in between your game drives. Since you are staying in a conservancy during your adventurous trip in the great plains of Africa, you will have the delightful opportunity also to go on night game drives where you can view the many nocturnal denizens of Masai Mara. You could even spot an elusive leopard up a tree, one of the territorial solitaries that reside in the conservancy. Prepare to be awestruck by the vast knowledge your Maasai guide has of the animals you see, and as you travel along trails aboard your custom-built safari vehicle, he will reveal to you detailed fauna behaviors, floral characteristics and also little-known snippets of insider information that provides a wholesome viewpoint. View prides of lions and herds of elephants among the Big Five of Africa and some of the 450 species of birds Masai Mara hosts. Your nature walk in the Ol Kinyei bush is an expedition of discovery of the minute insects and unusual reptiles. Learn to track animals Maasai-style on your cultural tour of Kenya, and when you visit their village close-by, you will understand their centuries-old customs and ways of tribal living. You can combine your game drives with picnic meals in the bush that the camp arranges for you. When you return from your excursions back to the camp, you can retire to the tents. Each of the tents is about 6 feet high and covers an area of 10 square feet. AfricanMecca boarders need to bring their own sleeping bag and towels from home or you can hire on-site if you prefer at a reasonable cost. Ol Kinyei Gamewatchers Adventure Camp provides a small side table and drinking water for in-tent use (read more on where else to stay on the great plains of Masai Mara). The dome tents have an additional tarp covering making them weatherproof and also front flaps which you can use to close the tents help to keep out insects and for your privacy. You will have your own bathroom cubicle that comes equipped with a basin and hot water for showers. Enjoy the traditional bucket shower experience on your mobile camping holiday in East Africa where the staff fills vertical gravity containers with hot water at your desired shower time. Turn in for a snug, comfortable sleep in your tent to the sounds of lions roaring, elephants trumpeting, buffalos munching close by and crickets chirping deep into the night.
