GUIDE ON BORANA LODGE IN KENYA

Navigation Tip - Go Directly To Prices, Reviews, Map, Photos, Video & Room Rate Guide For Borana Lodge

Indulge in an adventurous boutique safari experience at Borana Lodge, a premier African horse riding and active safari accommodation situated within eastern Laikipia’s Borana Conservancy. With Mount Kenya to the south and views of the highlands and valleys to the north, you are sure to feel at ease as the staff and owners welcome you like family.

Borana Lodge offers 8 cottages to meet the needs of solo travelers, romantic honeymooners, adventurous couples and families traveling in wild Kenya with AfricanMecca. The guest cottages are superbly located for the utmost privacy, and you enjoy spectacular views from your bedroom and also your bathroom.

The cottages feature double or twin beds, en-suite bathrooms, open fireplaces and verandahs. For couples desiring an intimate Laikipia holiday at the conservancy, we recommend the cottage that is situated furthest from the main lodge. Inside is a rich blend of leather single sofas, natural stone walls, hand-made wooden tables and a private verandah with views of the valley and the northern section of Borana Conservancy.

One of the cottages that have two rooms is specially designed for families with young children. The children’s sleeping area has smaller beds that are not appropriate for older children and adults, as well as a shared bathroom and separate bedroom for parents. Two cottages next to each other are well-suited for parents traveling with teenage children and features separate double and twin cottage rooms, shared sitting and dining area and a private plunge pool.

Borana is also a family-friendly East African vacation destination that offers a range of activities for all ages. Based on their own experiences with raising children in this beautiful setting, the owners have put together special activities that are sure to provide your little ones with an engaging tour of the Laikipia wilderness.

Coffee and tea in the early morning prepares you for the day ahead. We recommend that you start your day with a horseback safari as this is one of the main activities at Borana. These safaris can be arranged for all levels, including children, beginners and experienced riders. More adventurous guests may prefer the multi-day Northern Ride, Ranch Ride and Mountain Ride.

Enjoy breakfast and relaxation by the pool, and then a guided walk or a short mountain biking excursion. A healthy, organic lunch satisfies your appetite, after which you may nap or find a quiet place to read. Later, afternoon tea is served, after which you head out for an afternoon game drive. As the sun sets, enjoy refreshing cocktails and incredible views before a sumptuous dinner.

During your luxurious stay at Borana Lodge, AfricanMecca Safaris can also arrange helicopter and biplane flights, treks to Mount Kenya, buggie and quad safaris, as well as activities and time for you to help on the ranch.
