Royal Mara Safari Lodge, Kenya Vacation
Royal Mara Safari Lodge is situated directly on the wildebeest "Great Migration" route, near the two world famous wildebeest migratory Mara River crossing points and near Leopard Gorge, all made internationally known by the BBC's Big Cat Diary television program. The lodge is located on the popular Hippo Bend Lagoon of the Mara River, amongst several elephant, buffalo and giraffe herds, and with close proximity to several lion prides, including the "Maternity", Musiara Marsh, "Aitong", and Ridge prides. Experience luxurious standards of comfort and the personal attention of an exclusive butler. The Royal Mara Safari Lodge elegant carved furnishings will leave you with memorable impressions. At night listen to bush sounds from roaming wildlife. Resident hippos abandon their river sanctuary after sundown to graze between the river guest suites which are positioned on raised wooden decks with protective railings to insure the safety of the guests at all times.
All of Royal Mara Safari Lodge furniture is made from red cedar, olive and white podo logs gathered locally from private Maasai forest land. Royal Mara Safari Lodge is environmentally conscious so none of the wood is harvested from live trees. The wood is instead selected for its age, quality and strength and consists exclusively of tree logs that have fallen to the ground anywhere from a few years to decades ago and have remained on the ground for extended periods of time. Royal Mara Safari Lodge carvers are local Maasai and Akamba artisans who take pride in carving replicas of the wildlife with which their people have co-existed in the Masai Mara for many generations. Royal Mara's group of talented carvers have let their imaginations run wild: hippos with mouths wide open wallow in the sink basin, carved rhino heads stand guard with rolls of toilet paper, olive branches reach out over the shower to deliver piping hot water. Rediscover the common household items you've grown tired of -- only this time with a safari twist.

The Royal Mara believes that quality food begins with a quality kitchen. To that end the lodge has spared no expense. Unlike most other safari accommodations that maintain limited facility kitchens due to the constrained bush environment, all of Royal Mara's kitchen facilities consist of brand new, top of the line items specially flown in from Europe. From full size cold room fridges and freezers to fully stocked ovens, stove ranges, cooking equipment, coffee and juice makers and dishwashing facilities, the chefs are equipped with all the appliances they need to make every meal an enjoyable experience.
All bakery items are prepared daily on site. Royal Mara's fresh vegetables and fruits are grown locally to the extent possible and supplemented as needed from Nairobi. The lodge's fish products are flown from Mombasa periodically and meat and dairy products are transported every few days from Nairobi. The kitchen, as well as the guest suites, are supplied with water pumped from the lodge's borehole from a depth of 182 feet which is periodically tested in a laboratory to maintain a positive human consumption rating. Despite bush environment, the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation, combined with water filtration of the Royal Mara's water well supply, are maintained for the safety of the guests.
