MATEMWE RETREAT IN ZANZIBAR
The beauty of Zanzibar Island and its beaches, as well as its significant fixture on the spice route, has always been a cause for people around the world visiting to it as invitees, traders and vacationers. When you visit Zanzibar on your coastal trip of East Africa, you will see why. It is a fascinating island settlement that seems to maintain all its charm of yore with its ancient buildings and tiny shops that line the narrow alleyways of its capital, Stone Town. Head to the north of this jewel by the Indian Ocean and you can see its glorious triple beachfronts. Nungwi Beach straddles the very tip while Kendwa Beach is to the northwest while Matemwe in on the northeast. As its name delicately suggests, Matemwe Retreat on Matemwe Beach, is an idyllic romantic location for an impeccable island getaway on your luxury seaside vacation in Tanzania, perfect for AfricanMecca honeymooners! With just 4 boutique villas on the entire property, you can be assured of complete seclusion in a haven where lush greenery surrounds you with the glistening turquoise warm Indian Ocean in front of you. Yesteryear dhows with delicate triangular sails cruise the waters that lap gently on the shimmering pure white sands. The tranquility is only broken by the songs of chirping birds or perhaps your butler discretely tending to your villa on request or setting up a specially ordered meal cooked with sumptuous precision accompanied with the finest wines. Later, you can request for a calming massage session in your room, another memorable indulge for your glamorous holiday in Zanzibar.
Your villa is a two-story sanctuary built with naturally occurring materials like stone and makuti thatch that local craft artisans lovingly put together. Rough-hewn coconut wood is used to craft most of the furniture lending an appealing rustic charm to the villa. It includes a lovely outdoor lounge deck, minibar, dining area and air-conditioned bedroom with a king-size bed covered with gauzy netting and soft linen specially woven by Zanzibari women. The attached bathroom has twin vanities, hairdryer, shower and a sunken stone bath facing the ocean. The thatched deck outside includes a hammock for dreamy afternoon siestas while the upper floor has a plunge pool and open baraza to enjoy the expansive views of the blue ocean while on your seashore travels with AfricanMecca. Go exploring off the island and you will encounter the marine reserve of Mnemba Atoll. A stunning underwater realm of coral gardens, you will enjoy watching the diverse reef and pelagic life while scuba diving and snorkeling. You can go angling in the deep sea locations around Zanzibar in search of marlins, wahoo, tuna, sailfish, swordfish and more. On shore in the interior, you could visit the Jozani Forest Reserve, a conservation area set aside for the proliferation of the rare red colobus monkey. Zanzibar has always been famous for its spices and you can see them growing on the trees when you tour the farmlands. Here, you could also sample the luscious tropical fruit freshly picked from the trees. At the end of your day, return to your villa at the Matemwe Retreat and spend the rest of the evening bonding with your sweetheart.

The Zanzibar Stone Town tour guide was superlative. He was outstanding and gave us undivided attention. We felt that was great value and to be escorted round the market place and slave stations was like walking in a living museum.
Viv & Kirsty Turner - KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa
I booked my safari holiday through AfricanMecca. They were the most helpful company I have ever dealt with and I work within the travel industry. I had the most amazing time. The holiday went as clockwork with no hitches anywhere.

We have returned from our African adventure and would like to thank you very much for your part in making this such a wonderful experience. We were lucky enough to time the Great Migration from the Serengeti, which was amazing.
Denise Paterson - Belmont, Australia
Ras Nungwi was a beautiful property, the pristine white beach not more than forty feet from our lovely room, the Indian Ocean sublime. Raza, it was the vacation of a lifetime, again, thanks so much.
Jamie Davis & Liudmila Kondakova - California, United States
