GUIDE ON ASANJA GRUMETI IN SERENGETI
The Great Migration in East Africa is a fantasy safari for many of our guests, and western Serengeti is where one of the most intense wildlife events on Earth occurs from April through June. Just as the Mara River crossing in northern Serengeti represents a grueling battle of life and death, so does the Grumeti River though at lesser force. It’s filled with deadly Nile crocodiles that devour creatures that venture into the moving waters during annual migrations. Beyond its shoreline, resident wildebeests, buffaloes, zebras, antelope and other herbivores engage daily in a deadly duel with lions, hyenas, cheetahs, leopards and other stealthy hunters.
Create your own nature documentary in western Serengeti while enjoying the plush amenities of Asanja Grumeti, an exclusive mid-range bush holiday accommodation that blends contemporary design with yesteryear African safari elements.
Accommodation At Asanja GrumetiThere are only three guest tents at Asanja Grumeti, ensuring AfricanMecca guests enjoy the utmost in personalized service, Tanzania wilderness immersion, superlative wildlife viewing and unparalleled exploration tour activities. Each tent is exquisitely designed with light wood plank floors and woven rugs that serve as backdrops for the red-hued woods of the furnishings. To one side of your tent is a writing table with bench, sitting opposite an upholstered wingback chair. The centerpiece of the room is a lovely four-poster bed with white linens and jewel-toned accent pillows. A small bench at the end of the bed is upholstered in a beautiful print to bring contrast to the décor. Low nightstands and a full-length wood mirror and wardrobe complete the ensemble.
Behind the sleeping area is a private ensuite with large vanity and mirror that extends the length of the piece. Two glass vessel sinks with running water offer the space you need to prepare for the day. A separate area has a flush toilet and outdoor shower, but the true highlight of the space is the tub. Black enamel, adorned with ornate golden claw feet and an old-world brass faucet and showerhead, it makes for an unexpected vacation retreat in the bush. You’ll feel completely pampered in the most remote section of Tanzania. Asanja Grumeti specializes in romantic honeymoon safaris in Serengeti National Park, and you simply cannot imagine a more intimate travel experience for two.
Safari At Asanja GrumetiWith the Grumeti River just 10 minutes from Asanja Grumeti, you needn’t wait long to get the rush of excitement from all that unfolds right before your eyes. When the Great Serengeti Migration is in the area from April through June, the river becomes a gantlet of chaotic uncertainty. The wildebeest herds, joined by thousands of zebras, trample at the edge for a while before the first finally gets up the courage to plunge into the water. You can see the fear and desperation in every animal’s eyes, and soon you find yourself choosing a favorite animal to cheer on, with fingers crossed. Perhaps it will be a young, inexperienced calf or one of the mighty beasts that was slightly injured on the shore.
Game drives are the best way to experience all that Serengeti National Park offers, yet the camp also has other activities to make sure that your nature trip includes every detail you’d like, from nature walks to hot-air ballooning to Maasai cultural tours and so much more.
Dining At Asanja GrumetiThe aromatic journey at Asanja Grumeti begins at sunrise, when the staff brings you coffee, tea or hot cocoa to start your day. Take a few moments to warm yourself while looking across the savannah plains of Serengeti. We recommend that you include a bush breakfast with the first game drive of the day, or you can have a hot breakfast prepared by the chef once you return. For longer game drives, a picnic lunch can be readied for you. Dinner is a culinary extravaganza of local and international flavors.

AfricanMecca's professionalism and care understands that what distinguishes Africa is its authenticity, the land, people and wildlife who do not share our world of fashion and fanfare that distinguish so many travel companies today.
