GUIDE ON IKUKA SAFARI CAMP IN TANZANIA
Ikuka Safari Camp is a distinguished safari camp in Ruaha National Park that is quite noteworthy due to its spectacular location atop the Mwagusi Escarpment in southern Tanzania. The site allows for expansive and breathtaking views that are unparalleled by other accommodations in the area. The views are perfectly complemented by an intimate and personalized experienced that can only be found in smaller accommodations in the African bush country. The six guest bandas on the property are designed to blend in with the surroundings and give guests the utmost experience of being connected with nature by way a stone, thatch and natural wood construction. Awaken in the morning to the calls of nature from the comfort of a large, cozy bed. When you are ready to start the day’s adventure, freshen up in the en-suite bathroom that offers a large stone vanity with two vessel sinks, shower and toilet. You can then curl up with a cup of coffee or tea on your private elevated wood deck that surrounds the entire banda or in the relaxing sitting area, both of which provide breathtaking views of the Ruaha’s wilderness reserve. The mesh tent flap and curtains can be closed should you desire privacy or to shut out the natural elements. Each guest tent, as well as the common areas, have electricity 24 hours per day. The camp operates throughout the year except for the months of April and May. While staying at Ikuka Camp, AfricanMecca guests will enjoy top-notch facilities, excellent service, delightful food and even a sparkling swimming pool for those refreshing afternoon dips and lounging. The lounge area has plenty of leather seating for quiet moments reading, reflection on your day with a fine glass of wine from the bar, intimate conversations and delightful story amongst guests. You may even want to escape to the upstairs area to use the WiFi, peruse the library or just to simply sit on the floor cushions and look out across the expanse of wilderness. The main banda also has an open-sided dining area where the camp chef serves exceptional meals. As seasoned African safari veterans, the owners of the camp, Mark and Chloe Sheridan Johnson, have the personal insight that is needed to create and manage a camp that caters to the unique needs of outback travelers and adventure holidayers. Ruaha National Park is the largest national park in Tanzania and amongst the largest in Africa, yet the park remains amongst the least visited wilderness areas. As such, the habitats are relatively untouched, so you will have the pleasure of delving into superlatively pristine habitats that support a diverse wildlife population, including one of the largest elephant populations in Africa. Your ideal trip itinerary with AfricanMecca will include identifying a multitude of avi-fauna, and you will be thrilled to know that Ruaha has more than 570 recorded species that are both resident to East Africa and migratory. The Mwagusi River, one of the prime wildlife viewing areas is close to Ikuka Safari Camp, and you are assured of a secluded tour experience on your game drives that is unrivaled in other expanses of Africa. We recommend that you augment your wilderness vacation with an intriguing bush walk to discover some of the smaller habitats and creatures. Using an investigative eye, your local Tanzanian guide will teach you about traditional tracking techniques and how to read the area for signs of animal activities. End your day with a sundowner before returning to Ikuka.

AfricanMecca's professionalism and care understands that what distinguishes Africa is its authenticity, the land, people and wildlife who do not share our world of fashion and fanfare that distinguish so many travel companies today.
