GUIDE ON VOI SAFARI LODGE IN KENYA
Perched on the rim of a cliff with the vistas of the fused golden and green arid plains of Tsavo East National Parkspread below you, the Voi Safari Lodge is budget accommodation geared towards the mass beach vacationers from the coast of Kenya. Three watering holes below the lodge attract animals all through the day and you are likely to see herds of elephants, buffalos, gazelles, impalas and many more stopping by for a drink. As you arrive at the lodge on your non-frill holiday in this zone of south-eastern Kenya, you will enter a curved lounge area that trinkets with its pastoral ambience of stone walls with bamboo detailing. Artefacts and pictures grace the walls while lounge furniture made with tree trunks and sturdy branches allow for comfortable seats with awesome views of the landscape. You can also use the Wi-Fi services available here. Guests traveling in Tsavo East National Park can opt for any of the 53 rooms on offer at Voi Safari Lodge that are located in structures with three floors. Some of the rooms include twin beds while others have a double bed with an additional single bed. Over 125 guests can be accommodated at Voi Safari Lodge. The outer wall has a large window that provides views of the park’s horizon and its denizens outside seems like a wildlife motion picture in progress. You might even spot a baboon casually walking by on your ledge. The rooms have an attached bathroom with shower cubicle and the basic amenities typical of an economy establishment. The lodge is only the oldest in Kenya and AfricanMecca feels it requires a major uplift and refurbishment to keep up with modern times ahead of its competitors. Bathrooms are weary and so are the rooms.
Voi Safari Lodge offers adequate non-frill meals served buffet-style in the Ndovu Restaurant and Bar. Since the diner is located in front of a watering hole, animals wandering by as you eat, is a common occurrence. The lodge also has a free form pool with scenic views where you can take refreshing dips in the hot afternoons during your relaxing trip in East Africa or simply unwind beside in comfortable loungers. Overlooking the pool and its surrounding savannah is the Tembo Bar that serves drinks while you enjoy the stunning vistas and wildlife activity below you. There is also a little boutique at the lodge where you can shop for little knick-knacks. The mementos and artifacts you buy here will support the local artisans around the coast of Mombasa. Go on a game drive tour in custom-built safari vehicles with a well-informed, experienced guide on board who will show you how to track and sight animals through the camouflage of scrub and the grasses of Tsavo East. You can also view four of the Big Five of Africa, the lion, leopard, buffalo and elephant. If you would like to view rhinos, you can extend out with AfricanMecca to Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary in Tsavo West for an overnight stay. Also visit the Aruba Dam for the bathing elephants or even the cascading rapids at the imperfectly named Lugard Falls on Galana River where you can spot crocodiles basking on the sandy banks and pods of hippos wallowing in the shallows (read more on when is the best time to go to Tsavo East).

Jambo Altaf, The service was first class and accommodation was out of this world, the staff at Tsavo could not do enough and if you required anything all you had to do was ask. Thank you for a most memorable experience.
