GUIDE ON NGUTUNI SAFARI LODGE IN KENYA
Sprawled in open grassland with the Sagala Hills standing tall in the background is the Ngutuni Safari Lodge. This budget accommodation is built in the midst of a private sanctuary that covers an area of 10,000 acres bordered by Tsavo East National Park on three sides. AfricanMecca guests touring the outback of Tsavo in south-eastern Kenya can spend time on the viewing decks of the lodge and watch as herds of elephants, zebras, buffaloes and many species of birds visit the watering hole below to drink, bath or graze on the surrounding foliage. The entire lodge is built with timber poles and thatched roofs with a warm, eco-friendly ambience that surprisingly combines all the basic comforts you may need. The main lounge and dining room is located in a central structure with wide verandas that serve as excellent vantage points to view the wildlife activity in the plain outside. After a warm welcome with cool drinks and warm, fragrant towels, you will be shown to your room. The 48 guest rooms are housed on either side of four of the two-story buildings that have 12 rooms each. Every room includes a double bed and an added single bed that can comfortably sleep up to three guests traveling to Tsavo East Park with a maximum capacity of a massive 144 guests. Families will find the 8 interconnecting rooms very convenient. Natural-tone curtains and rugs on the floor lend a homely feel to the rooms that also has a simple dresser and seat. The ceiling fan keeps you cool and the lodge also provides a room phone for your use while the attached bathroom has a shower and hairdryer. The wooden balcony also has a seating arrangement and faces the watering hole. This area light up at night so you can continue to view animals even in the dim light. The trees in the savannah beside the lodge have many resident weaverbirds and as you dine, you can watch the avian-life in them. Ngutuni Lodge offers you wholesome, modest meals that are cooked with locally sourced ingredients. You can order lunch off the menu from a choice of three courses while dinners are four-course meals with salad, soup, main dish and dessert. The lodge requests that you dress in standard dinner attire. If you have kids’ family vacationing in magical East Africa with you, you can request that dinner be served a little earlier for them. Spend time on your non-frill trip in Kenya on the deck of the lodge or exploring Tsavo East or Ngutuni’s private sanctuary in custom rigged safari vehicles. The experienced AfricanMecca guide on board is well-versed in the behavior and habits of animals and will amaze you with his deep knowledge (read more on when is the best time to visit Tsavo East). View the magnificent short-maned lions of Tsavo along with leopards, cheetahs, jackals and hyenas. You can also see warthogs, gazelles, elands, waterbuck and many more aside from some of the 500 species of birds that inhabit Tsavo East. You can visit deep watering holes and rivers to view hippos and crocodiles. Nature walks allow you to experience the essence of Tsavo through sight, smell, odors and touch. Sign off your photo holiday in Tsavo East with a souvenir quest at the lodge’s boutique, the earnings from which support the local artisans of Tsavo.

Jambo Altaf, The service was first class and accommodation was out of this world, the staff at Tsavo could not do enough and if you required anything all you had to do was ask. Thank you for a most memorable experience.
