A small camp, nestled in a beautiful tropical glade of yellow fever trees, tamarinds and raffia palms with the Kindani River rustling by and the songs of birds filling the air with soft melody. Sunlight peeps through the leaves of the trees and dances on your wooden deck as you enjoy a quiet time of reflection or a good book in the Zen section of your tented room. These are some of the serene AfricanMecca moments you will spend during your stay at the Rhino River Camp on your wilderness vacation in Kenya. Located at the border of Meru National Park and spread over 80 acres, this discerning, mid-range camp has just 6 tented rooms in addition to a library, bar and lounge, all erected on wooden platforms overlooking the river. The camp also has a swimming pool surrounded by a timber deck by the riverside. Natural tone woven wall hangings add a lovely charm to the very spacious rooms. The tents are made of canvas with mesh windows with an entire front wall open to nature. Roll-up mesh and canvas flaps can be dropped at night to keep you protected from mosquitoes and other bugs. Each of the tents has a double bed but on your request, it can be converted into twin beds and an extra bed can be added for a third guest. The bathroom and dressing area are to the back of the tent and include all the amenities you might expect from a deluxe camp on your dream trip to Meru. It includes a distinct shower area and soft towels and quality toiletries are placed at your disposal. Honeymooning couples or family of four guests travelling in this part of East Africa can opt for the Karen Blixen Suite that comprises of two rooms side by side, each with its own bathroom at the back. One of the tents can be treated as a lounge or beds can be placed in it for added guests. Do put in your request for double or twin beds according to your preference. The suite also comes with an outdoor bath and an exclusive plunge pool.

Spend your wilderness holiday in Meru in tune with your inner self. Have your meals when you choose because there are no set timetables here. The camp will serve your meals at the venue of your preference, in their dining area, beside the pool, on the patio outside your room or in the bush. The food has an Italian flavor to it and you can try a range of pizzas, pastas and lasagnas accompanied with breads and salads. Vegetarians will find interesting dishes to their taste. The Rhino River Camp has its own exclusive entrance to Meru National Park and you can go on custom-built safari vehicles under the direction of an expert and skilled guide to see the rich, diverse animals and birdlife of Meru. Go on a bush-walking safari to closely experience the sounds, sights, smells and feel of nature at close range or on a hike up the hill (read more on when is the best time to go to Meru). Visit the local community for insight into their lives and later return to the camp for some relaxed pampering at the spa. Sign off on your day with cool drinks and exciting recollections of your day in Meru. Take home souvenirs of your AfricanMecca tour in Kenya from the gift shop and many memories of the beauty of Meru National Park with its Big Five, innumerable mammals and more than 300 species of birds.
