SLIPWAY HOTEL IN DAR ES SALAAM
The Slipway Hotel is a one-stop Dar es Salaam ocean facing accommodation that includes not just rooms for their guests but also a complete recreational center fused in a preferential local and social hang-out spot in an affluent neighborhood (view map of Dar es Salaam). The Barclays Bank has a branch here, and you can also use the services of the currency exchange bureau. There is also a park for kids, beauty salon, drugstore and a jewelry showroom. Also stop over at the book store for some interesting African and international literature. The Slipway hotel faces the Indian Ocean and is located on the upmarket Msasani Bay. If you are looking for a good value accommodation for an overnight stay en-route to your AfricanMecca safari tour to the Southern or Northern wildlife parks of Selous, Ruaha, Serengeti, then Slipway is just the venue for you. It is also appropriate for guests who have an evening flight and require a day room to tour Dar es Salaam if arriving from Arusha, Zanzibar or any other destination. They have 29 rooms (economy and standard) and 10 studio apartments. The rooms have the minimum amenities you might need such as a satellite TV, complimentary Wi-Fi services, mini-bar, phone, air conditioning and an in-room safe for your valuables.
If you are on an unhurried Dar es Salaam trip with family on a long stay, do opt for the studio apartment that has a little kitchenette with some non-frill cooking appliances. You can warm food in the microwave or make tea and coffee using the electric kettle. The kitchenette also comes equipped with a fridge and some cups and saucers and silverware. The hotel provides you with drinking water, tea and coffee making supplies that are replenished every day. These “Essential Destinations” rooms are small but earnest and inviting, with four poster beds and mosquito netting for safeguard. Stone benches with soft contrasting cushions and appealing carved tables add to their quaint charm. The rooms also have tiny balconies from where you can enjoy a view of the ocean. You will be provided with fresh bedding and fluffy towels, and the phone connects you to the reception, restaurant, cafe and the other rooms also. If you should need a hairdryer, please put in a request at the reception, and one will be provided to you. Breakfast is served in a little area next to the reception and has all the standard fare including of a full English charm with fruits. Have your meals at the Waterfront Restaurant and Bar that overlooks the sea or if you prefer Japanese sushi and sashimi, try the Azuma Restaurant. Stop by at the Caffe Classico for a light meal or treat yourself and the kids to some cold desserts from ice cream, smoothies to shakes at the Fairy Delight Ice Cream Parlor. Your ocean front Tanzanian hotel complex is conveniently located close to an exciting range of venues that offer you added shopping, dining and night time entertainment. From the Slipway Center, you take boat rides to visit the beautiful islands of Mbudya and Bongoyo On and around the islands, you can go swimming, snorkeling, diving and fishing or simply lie on the pristine sands and sunbathe.
