Though, if you want to stay close to the shores of Kisumu, you may opt for Impala Eco Lodge, a Tier 3 value accommodation that offers non-frill experiences.



Mfangano Island Camp features 6 cottages that are built from clay, thatch and other native materials. The roundish rondavel design with plenty of light and air creates a peaceful ambience to help you rejuvenate after a day of discovering the natural, historical and cultural assets of the island and lake. Here, 6 charming cottages feature elevated thatch roofs, private verandahs with lake and garden views, living and dressing areas, large en-suite bathrooms and one king-size or two queen-size beds. As a family-friendly accommodation, the lodge offers safe places for your little ones to roam and explore, and the staff are specially trained to engage youngsters in special activities.

The cottages are situated on the same level, so guests with limited mobility can easily navigate between their cottages and common areas. Gardens on the property provide organic produce for your meals, which are served in a variety of locations, depending on the weather. A breakfast of fresh fruit, eggs, homemade cereal and pastries, sausage and other “English” options are typically served on the lawn. Lunch is served outdoors while dinner may be served by candlelight on the jetty, in the dining area or the gazebo.
