GUIDE ON NABOISHO CAMP IN KENYA
We recommend Naboisho Camp to outback AfricanMecca travelers in Kenya who prefer a secluded, non-mass deluxe accommodation that borders the Masai Mara National Reserve. The camp location in the 50,000-acre Mara Naboisho Conservancy means that you enjoy pristine bush country and natural animal behaviors without high traffic and crowds that are prevalent in parts of public reserve especially on the eastern sector. Additionally, you may partake of many activities that are not allowed in the reserve, such as night game drives, off-road game drives and safari walks. The camp’s casual atmosphere makes it a flawless base for your high-pace East African safari activities. Naboisho by Asilia offers only 8 guest tents, so the staff provides you with friendly, courteous and attentive service. Each tent has a private outdoor area with a canvas roof for those times when you want to feel the refreshing African breezes. The interior of the tent is divided into three areas – a sitting area, sleeping area and en-suite bathroom. The sitting area is covered on two sides with mesh canvas, and the outside canvas flap can also be brought down for privacy while the adjoining sleeping area can be curtained off. Furnishings include chairs, table and daybed. The sleeping area features beds, nightstand, writing desk, personal lock box and wall-mounted overhead lighting for reading at night. The en-suite bathroom features indoor-outdoor bucket shower, flush toilet, dual sink vanity, mirror and privacy screen for dressing. Natural light and fresh air filter into the tent through large screen windows. The East African landscape serves as inspiration for the décor of your tent. The simple color palette of neutral colors helps you relax and unwind after your thrilling tour of Masai Mara. For parents with young children, Naboisho Camp offers two excellent family suites with two interconnecting tents in each. While staying at Naboisho Camp, your personal Rekero butler brings warm tea and coffee to your tent as part of your wake-up call. For a truly spectacular African holiday experience in the bush, we recommend that you take an early morning game drive in the conservancy. During the early morning hours, wildlife is foraging and grazing along with stalking predators, and the early light makes for superb photographs. Your guide knows the unsurpassed vantage points, whether your wish list is of certain species or specific behaviors. Masai Mara Game Reserve and its surrounding conservancies are known for the diversity of resident species, as well as the immense migration herds of wildebeests and zebras that travel through from July to October. For this reason, the Mara is an extraordinary Kenya bush vacation destination any time of year. Bird lovers, as well, have plenty of avi-fauna to record in their personal birding logs. Although breakfast is available at camp, we recommend that you have a bush breakfast amidst the wildlife. The intensity of your morning may exhaust your energy, so you may want to indulge in a nap before lunch. You may also spend some time reading, watching more wildlife behaviors from your tent and other pastimes like chatting to other guests on shared experiences. After lunch, we recommend that you take a guided walking safari or visit a local village. You may also spend some time learning about and engaging with the research projects in the conservancy. Tea is served in the mid afternoon before your game drive that ends with sundowners. As the stars fill the night skies, you relax with an outdoor dinner by the campfire before retiring or adventurously heading out into the night for a game drive in the conservancy. Should you be planning a three-day stay at Naboisho, AfricanMecca can arrange a hot air balloon safari and fly camping trip too.
