WHERE TO STAY IN LAKE NAIVASHA

Planning your dream African safari can be challenging, especially if you are traveling from international locations into unknown territories. Many aspects of your Naivasha trip must be arranged, and some destinations require an in-depth and current knowledge of logistics, weather conditions, safety, accommodation choices and other factors.

At AfricanMecca Safaris, we provide a comprehensive set of services that ensure you have a phenomenal experience in East Africa. To this end, we have designed the Safari Tier system for accommodation and tour experiences located in or near your preferred parks and reserves.

The tier ranking represents an overall score for an individual accommodation in Lake Naivasha based on the quality of the lodging, guiding standards, service, food, road and air transport, location and proximity to the best natural, cultural and historical attractions. By choosing a tier that suits your travel needs and personal taste, you feel confident that your accommodation experience in Kenya will exceed your expectations.

Our tier categories are Tier 1 for high-end premier accommodations and Tier 2 for mid-range deluxe accommodations. The most economical option is our Tier 3 for modest, value accommodations. For your bush travel to Lake Naivasha, we recommend accommodations in all three tiers. Our luxury Tier 1 options are Loldia House and Chui Lodge, both of which provide our guests with the utmost in sophistication and personalized services.

Loldia Lodge is set within 6500 acres of incredible farmland on the shores of Lake Naivasha. Within the main house are nine en-suite rooms that reflect the décor of the earliest settlers. Guest cottages are also available for newlyweds, couples and families who prefer more privacy and additional amenities, such as fireplaces, extra bedrooms and breathtaking views of the lake and Mount Longonot.

An 18,000-acre wildlife conservancy surrounds you at Chui Lodge located near Lake Naivasha. Eight individually designed cottages offer views of the sanctuary and Great Rift Valley while immersing you in a peaceful setting adorned with locally-crafted furniture and artwork. Hippo Point & Dodo’s Tower, a distinct Tier 1 option, offers a personable Elizabethan country-home experience.

AfricanMecca Tier 2 recommendations at Lake Naivasha are Kiangazi House and Kiboko Luxury Camp. Kiangazi House is situated within the Oserian Wildlife Sanctuary Game Corridor that connects Lake Naivasha with Hell’s Gate National Park. Choose from three guest rooms in the main house and four bedrooms that are set away from the house.

The intimate Olerai House is an alternate Tier 2 option with only 5 rooms. The pastoral setting of both lodgings immediately relaxes you, and friendly staff make you feel right at home.

For a traditional camping vacation at Lake Naivasha, we recommend Kiboko Luxury Camp located on the secluded grounds of Lake Naivasha Country Club. With only eight tents that suite solo travelers, couples and small families, the camp is sure to give you an authentic wilderness experience. Our budget-conscious guests enjoy the simple and comfortable guest rooms at Lake Naivasha Simba Lodge and Elsamere. The former lodge has 70 guest rooms, some with views of the lake, outdoor showers, private courtyards and other special touches.

Step back in time at Elsamere, the historic home of Joy and George Adamson and the inspiration for the novel, “Born Free.” Cottages on the property house ten charming guest rooms, and we recommend that you spend time learning more of the accommodation’s history at the on-site museum. No matter what tier fits your needs, you have access to all of the wonderful safari activities at Lake Naivasha and the surrounding areas (read more on when is the best time to go).
