Lake Naivasha Sopa Resort offers guests a budget-friendly option for a non-frill holiday in Kenya. The unique layout of the lakeside lodge structures is designed to preserve the trees on the property, so guests enjoy an almost whimsical, flora conscious lodging while partaking of all that Lake Naivasha offers. Situated on 150 acres of acacia woodland and grassland, Lake Naivasha Sopa Resort gives you sample of your wilderness safari in Africa as resident colobus and vervet monkeys, giraffes, hippos, waterbucks and other foraging herbivores roam the property. Efforts to preserve the trees have also resulted in common areas that are set apart from each other, including two swimming pools, snack bar, tennis court, health spa and conference facilities. The intriguing architectural design continues with the 21 crescent-shaped cottages that house four rooms each for a total of 84 rooms. Each cottage is constructed of local stone and wrought iron entwined with glorious bougainvillea vines. The ground level and upper floor each have two separate guest rooms. Special rooms are available for AfricanMecca guests with limited mobility, and interconnecting rooms are perfect for your family’s value vacation in central Kenya. Amenities include electronic safes, telephones, tea and coffee maker and minibars. The upstairs rooms have king size beds and private verandahs, while the lower level rooms are slightly larger with two queen size beds and private sitting rooms that open to the green lawns. A morning boating tour of Lake Naivasha starts your day with the awe-inspiring spectacle of Naivasha’s feathered avian-life. A professional ornithologist guide helps you capture the breathtaking beauty of African fish eagles soaring in from above to capture their prey, black herons using their feathers to cover their heads and many other engaging bird behaviors. With more than 450 bird species, Lake Naivasha is sure to make a bird lover of any guest. AfricanMecca can also organize travel arrangements to the sister Lake Nakuru on a full day game drive with a picnic lunch if you prefer. In between your palatable breakfast and lunch, you have time to finalize your birding log from the morning’s adventurous trip to Lake Naivasha or just spend time relaxing. In the afternoon, take a quick nap, do short laps in the pool, play a game of tennis or have a glass of wine while taking in your surroundings. Before the sun sets, enjoy an evening activity, go horseback riding or relax by the lake. Order from the selection of wines, beers and cocktails at the main bar for sundowners, and for dinner, Lake Naivasha Sopa Lodge offers a buffet of adequate Swahili, Mediterranean and Continental food. End your day dining indoors under shimmering chandeliers or privately outdoors with the star-filled East African sky overhead.
