STONE TOWN SCUBA DIVING TOUR EXPERIENCE IN ZANZIBAR WITH AFRICANMECCA
The enlightening historical and cultural environs of Stone Town that date back centuries are a delight to explore during on seaside vacation in Zanzibar with AfricanMecca, but the underwater world hidden below the calming waves of the Indian Ocean presents many more enchanting wonders. The coral walls off the coast of Stone Town fashion an aquatic paradise where moray eels, blue spotted rays, turtles and colorful fish flit through the marine streets. The reefs around Bawe Island are sited at depths of eighteen meters at their deepest point and house corals like brain, staghorn, acropora. On the south end of the island, there are two lines of coral, one at twelve meters and the other at eighteen meters. Sponges and rays abound while shy green turtles and octopi peek from the coral jungles. Murogo Reef is another site that you must include in your Tanzania diving trip itinerary during your East African coastal travels. It includes three main diving locales that begin at a shallow wall before dropping to depths of twenty-four meters. You can sight fin creatures like yellow and black sweetlips, lionfish, clownfish, pufferfish and triggerfish to name a few. On the west of Stone Town is the Pange Reef with depths that range from fourteen meters on the north and twenty-four meters on the south end. Its shallow waters are ideal for novices learning to dive, and you will be treated to the sight of moorish idols, parrotfish and clownfish among others as they frolic in the coral bommies. The Nyange Reef houses an endemic species of coral that is only found here, and you can explore sites like Coral Bay, Groupers Playground and Turtle's Den.

The Zanzibar Stone Town tour guide was superlative. He was outstanding and gave us undivided attention. We felt that was great value and to be escorted round the market place and slave stations was like walking in a living museum.

When beach vacationing in Zanzibar, we recommend experiencing some of the surrounding Zanzibar Island attractions and tour activities after your Northern Tanzania safari to Tarangire, Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti.
