The Great Rift Valley Lodge & Golf Resort lies sprawled on the slopes of the Eburru Mountain, or locally known by the Maasai as Ol Donyo Opurru – the mountain of mist. Located at an elevation of 7000 feet, this massive value accommodation offers you stunning views of the Great Rift Valley, the Naivasha lake, the Longonot mountain crater and the Aberdare peaks at a distance. Green lawns form the setting for the stone and wood cottages that house the rooms for AfricanMecca guests on a golf retreat holiday in East Africa. The lodge has 30 capacious Lodge Rooms sited in cottages that have two and three storeys. While twenty-one of the rooms have twin beds, nine have double beds. Mosquito netting covers the four-poster beds that are placed at a two-step level in the room. A small seating area beside the windows faces the gardens and a fireplace adds to the warm, rustic ambience of the room. The lodge provides laundry services at an extra cost. Every room has its own patio or balcony overlooking the Rift Valley and some of the rooms are interconnected so they are ideal for families safari traveling in Kenya. Bottled water for brushing is provided in your room and insect repellant is also available if need be from the reception. The Great Rift Valley Lodge also has the 40 Longonot Villas for your stay if you are touring Kenya part of a small group of friends and families on a self-catering experience. These cottages come with two, three or four bedrooms and face Mount Longonot. The Twin Villa Rooms come with two twin beds and every one of the cottages has its own lounge, mini kitchen and dining area and a private veranda. You can have meals in the lodge’s two restaurants and they also have an outdoor dining area. Their sitting area, combined with a bar is comfortable for enjoying drinks while enjoying the spectacular sunsets over the highlands of Kenya. Lake Naivasha and its surrounding locales are home to more than 450 species of birds and the Great Rift Valley Lodge with its gardens, golf course and beautiful landscaping attract many avian-lives. You can spend time on your serene East African Rift Valley trip either swimming or relaxing beside the swimming pool that has a special section for kids. The lodge has an Adventurers Club for children that organize activities such as junior walks in the bush, art classes, board game sessions, treasure quests and making bead jewelry. The nearby Eburru forest is a beautiful location for nature walks and you can also go boating on Lake Naivasha to see the water birds like flamingos, herons, cormorants, fish eagles, storks and many more. A trip to Crescent Island lets you walk among zebras, giraffes, antelopes with no predators on the island though the walking tour needs to be with a proper walking guide due to hippos and buffalos being present. We recommend you combine you extend your game driving safari to the sister Lake Nakuru National Park to maximize on aquatic and terrestrial viewing opportunities. Contact your tour consultant at AfricanMecca Safaris to plan your lake vacation in the Naivasha wilderness.
