A tiny island, covering an area of only twelve acres and abounding with dik-diks, white herons, egrets, hermit and coconut crabs along with other fascinating sea creatures lies to the west of Zanzibar Island. Take a 15 minute boat ride from Stone Town, and you will arrive at this haven of tranquility and land on a beach of pure white sands shaded by tropical trees and lapped by the turquoise waters of the shimmering Indian Ocean. Quaint rope sunbeds under the palm trees invite you for lazy siestas on your secluded beach vacation in Zanzibar in between marine expeditions with AfricanMecca to discover the many treasures of the sea. Look carefully at the trunk of a palm tree, and you might just spot a giant coconut crab clawing its way up. The island accommodation, Chapwani Island Lodge, offers just 10 rooms to value guests traveling to this part of Eastern Africa. White walls that reflect the silvery of the sand with palm thatch roofs and deep partitioned porches furnished with daybeds make up 5 bandas, each having two Seaside Rooms apiece. They also have a Sunset Villa for budget honeymooning couples and families. The Villa has roomy living areas and includes two patios and a private mini-pool. Zanzibari beds grace the rooms that are covered with mosquito nets for your shield. Head out to the swimming pool to soak in the salted water underneath the warm tropical sun. Later, you can enjoy wholesome, organic meals cooked with produce grown on the island or harvested from the sea along with mainland meats. The surrounding reef waters of Chapwani Island and Zanzibar also teem with varieties of living coral like staghorn, brain, acropora and many more, and inhabiting these gardens are wondrous marine creatures like reef fish, crabs, octopus, lobsters, eels, turtles, and sea horses to name a few. Spend time on your exploratory holiday in Zanzibar, scuba diving and snorkeling in these waters. Later, avail of the complimentary boat service to the mainland of Zanzibar and spend your day exploring the quaint charm of this historic settlement – Stone Town. Imposing, elegant structures, remnants of a bustling past, stand tall, each revealing a unique tale. Your expert AfricanMecca guide will show you around, explaining the significance of the House of Wonders, Anglican Church, Sultan's Palace and the old merchant mansions, some of which have been converted into hotels. Check in on the tiny shops in the narrow streets and revel in a shopping tour much like the former Omani inhabitants did. Or you could stop for a seafood snack at a local restaurant, flavored with fresh spices grown on the island itself. Make your way to the spice farms and listen in awe as your experienced guide demonstrates the harvesting techniques and lets you taste the spices in their pure form. You could also taste the varied fruits the island is famous for. In the midst of this tranquil, laid back settlement is the Jozani Forest, a secluded haven for the red colobus monkey. Enjoy watching these unusual creatures foraging for food, grooming, caring for their young and much more. You could also add a fishing foray to your trip itinerary for Tanzania by visiting the distinctly selected locations in the deeper waters off the coast.

The Zanzibar Stone Town tour guide was superlative. He was outstanding and gave us undivided attention. We felt that was great value and to be escorted round the market place and slave stations was like walking in a living museum.

We have returned from our African adventure and would like to thank you very much for your part in making this such a wonderful experience. We were lucky enough to time the Great Migration from the Serengeti, which was amazing.

Ras Nungwi was a beautiful property, the pristine white beach not more than forty feet from our lovely room, the Indian Ocean sublime. Raza, it was the vacation of a lifetime, again, thanks so much.
