Navigation Tip - Go Directly To Prices, Reviews, Map, Photos, Video & Room Rate Guide For Zanzibar Grand Palace Hotel
Offering easy access for cultural vacationers to the distinct attractions of Zanzibar Island, the Zanzibar Grand Palace is strategically located in the heart of its capital, Stone Town. The Forodhani Gardens and the Port are a short walk away as are the labyrinthine streets that host many delightful little stores and residential homes. This budget accommodation has a facade that speaks of the colonial past of the ancient island settlement, but the interiors are every bit Zanzibari with the colored glass panes and authentic furniture inlaid with metalwork. The reception desk and other sections of the hotel have carved woodwork that is delightfully Swahili and lends an agreeable charm. The Zanzibar Grand Palace Hotel offers a selection of 33 rooms in three specifications to suit the preferences of like-minded AfricanMecca economy traveler exploring ancient Zanzibar. They include either single or double king-sized beds, television, cupboard, dressing table and an electronic safe deposit box. The 8 Standard Rooms are single or double while the larger 23 Deluxe Rooms can sleep up to three guests. You can request for twin or double beds also. Like the 2 Junior Suites, the Deluxe Rooms can be either ocean or garden facing. The Junior Suites have a distinct living room, bathrobes, tea and coffee making supplies. The attached suite bathroom has a Jacuzzi and shower microphone.
Wholesome, satisfactory meals at the Top Roof Restaurant or the Dock Cafe. You can also try the traditional Swahili dining experience on your gastronomical holiday that is set up for you on a Busath carpet with twinkling stars overhead and the luminosities of Zanzibar spread all around you. The calls of the muezzin, the ringing of church and also temple bells tell a tale of a dynamic history that combines a little of all the would-be conquerors, settlers, sightseers and explorers that crossed the Indian Ocean shores of Zanzibar Island in East African. Follow in their footsteps as you go shopping in the duka stores that sell you wares just as they have over centuries. Look for colorful and beautifully patterned Swahili fabrics, delicate bead jewelry and delicate handmade artifacts. You can also buy fragrant spices and view the many unfamiliar fruits at Darajani Market. Shoki-shoki, fenesi, bungo, durian are only some of the fruits that have tastes and appearances as unusual as their names. Visit the spice plantations of Zanzibar and your expert AfricanMecca guide will talk to you about the many intricate harvesting techniques that they use. You will also learn about the almost natural healing properties of these spices that made them so valuable. Also, include a trip to the Jozani Forest. This conservation reserve has been set aside for the proliferation of the rare Kirk’s colobus monkey. Watch them with curiosity as they care for their young and forage for food. Back at Stone Town, you can tour the many historical edifice wonders of antiquated Zanzibar. The Tippu Tip House, Beit Al Sahel or the Sultan's Palace, Beit-al-Ajaib or the House of Wonders, the beautiful Anglican Cathedral and the Old Fort are only some of the bygone Tanzanian structures that have stood the test of time. Return to Zanzibar Grand Palace Hotel for your dinner and restful sleep after an active day of island traveling.

The Zanzibar Stone Town tour guide was superlative. He was outstanding and gave us undivided attention. We felt that was great value and to be escorted round the market place and slave stations was like walking in a living museum.

We have returned from our African adventure and would like to thank you very much for your part in making this such a wonderful experience. We were lucky enough to time the Great Migration from the Serengeti, which was amazing.

Ras Nungwi was a beautiful property, the pristine white beach not more than forty feet from our lovely room, the Indian Ocean sublime. Raza, it was the vacation of a lifetime, again, thanks so much.
