AFRICA HOUSE HOTEL IN STONE TOWN ZANZIBAR
Zanzibar Island has been an important trading post on the Spice Route and over the centuries, many rulers have attempted to set up and maintain a base here. Africa House Hotel is one such remnant of the colonial era of Zanzibar when the British created a base here under the banner of the “English Club Of East Africa” and used the clubhouse as a hub for drinks and conversations. Today, this charming colonial building has been transformed into a budget accommodation for guests touring Zanzibar’s heart but has retained all its original charm. Located within Stone Town, it overlooks the Indian Ocean across a beautifully landscaped garden. You could spend your vacationing evenings on the terrace of the hotel, sipping sundowners and enjoying the gentle ocean breeze. The Shangani Square and Forodhani Gardens are also close by and are renowned as the liveliest places at night. Aside from these attractions, AfricanMecca guests will be able to easily explore the ancient charm of the Stone Town section of the island that serves as its capital. Stroll along its maze alleys and you can enjoy checking out the “dukas” (little stores) for souvenirs and also traditional food joints that sell you delicious seafood tempered with fresh spices grown on the island. Make your historical and cultural holiday in Stone Town memorable by buying gorgeous, delicate pieces of jewelry, artwork, Zanzibari handicrafts, traditional textiles like kitenge or kikoy and also tasting unusual fruit like shoki-shoki or durian that is unique to this part of Tanzania. You will also be fascinated to spot the traces of fused transformation that the settlement exhibits, from internet cafes, dive schools to various relic vendors and many more. Return to Africa House to relax for lunch and siesta before you go on to explore the island further.
The Africa House Hotel offers 15 rooms equipped with air-conditioners, attached bathrooms, supplies for making tea and coffee, TV with satellite connection and telephone. The rooms also include a minibar that the staff will stock on your request. Their rooms are in three categories, and you can choose from Deluxe Rooms with either double beds or twin beds. Some of these rooms face Stone Town bustle while others face the ocean. If you prefer more spacious living spaces for your coastal trip in Africa, you could choose to stay in their Royal Deluxe Room. When not sampling the street fruits on the island, you can have meals in the two in-house restaurants that serve you multi-cuisine fare. The hotel also has an al fresco terrace lounge and a Shisha Bar. If you would like to see the origins of the fragrant spices that turn your meals into gourmet experiences, take an excursion to the famous spice plantations where you can view these organic jewels growing on the trees, shrubs and perhaps, join in their harvesting activities. Wildlife enthusiasts traveling in Zanzibar must spend time in the Jozani Forest, home to the Kirk's red colobus monkeys that are found only in Zanzibar and other smaller equally enchanting creatures like Sykes' monkeys, colorful butterflies, millipedes, lizards, amphibians like frogs and many more. Also, enjoy exploring the mangrove forests and the many varieties of flora that abounds in the forest. Your experienced AfricanMecca guide accompanying you will talk to you about their incredible characteristics as you revel in their beautiful forms.

The Zanzibar Stone Town tour guide was superlative. He was outstanding and gave us undivided attention. We felt that was great value and to be escorted round the market place and slave stations was like walking in a living museum.

We have returned from our African adventure and would like to thank you very much for your part in making this such a wonderful experience. We were lucky enough to time the Great Migration from the Serengeti, which was amazing.

Ras Nungwi was a beautiful property, the pristine white beach not more than forty feet from our lovely room, the Indian Ocean sublime. Raza, it was the vacation of a lifetime, again, thanks so much.
