MAMAMAPAMBO BOUTIQUE HOTEL IN ZANZIBAR
To immerse yourself in the ethnical spirit of East Africa, the Mamamapambo Boutique Hotel is the accommodation you must choose for its unique ambience. Owned and operated by Paolo and Cristina, this no-frills hotel has a whimsical decor that adds warmth and a sense of culture to your Tanzanian island vacation. Located on Jambiani Beach in southeastern Zanzibar, it is adorned with colorful, attractive Swahili furnishings, fabrics and beautifully carved artifacts. Here and there, you will see animal and tribal handcrafted figurines while the rough-hewn wooden post furniture and thatched roofs lend a modest, yet charming rustic look. You can spend your holidaying time relaxing in the daybeds screened by a low coconut pole wall that accords you privacy from the beach or order drinks at the beach bar. The 6 guest rooms at the Mamamapambo Hotel are located in a two-story structure facing the beach. The two Superior Rooms and two Superior Sea View Rooms are on the lower floor and have patios while the two sea-facing Jungle Rooms are on the upper floor and come with verandahs. The Superior Rooms are air-conditioned and can accommodate a third AfricanMecca guest. The other rooms are cooled with large ceiling fans and the cool ocean breezes. The large, comfortable king sized beds have mosquito netting, and the bathrooms on the lower floors include twin basins and basic toiletries. The restaurant at the Mamamapambo reflects the theme of the hotel and has an agreeable coastal ambience highlighted by the seafood, Swahili and Mediterranean cuisines served here. There is also a bar for ordering drinks. Jambiani Beach with its pristine white sands, the incredible panorama of the turquoise Indian Ocean and lush tropical vegetation is only one aspect of everything that Zanzibar has to offer. Go marine diving and snorkeling in the underwater realms hidden below the serene waters, and you will encounter an awesome variety of coral like staghorn, brain, convoluted and many others. Prepare to be astounded at the reef creatures like seahorses, wrasses, Spanish dancers, turtles, dolphins, reef fishes and sea anemones to name a scarce few. There are also several deep-water designated sites where you can go fishing under the direction of a local expert skipper. With some luck, you might encounter marlins, sailfish, trevally, dorado, swordfish and yellowfin tuna among others. Extend your tour to explore the many antique UNESCO Heritage buildings of the capital, Stone Town. You can also spend a leisurely afternoon shopping in the ancient bazaars that still sell you the same wares that they have for centuries. Buy delicate bead jewelry, carved artifacts, spices and much more. Travel out to Jozani Forest Reserve and view a fascinating primate, the red colobus monkey. Your AfricanMecca guide will talk to you about the conservation efforts that have been undertaken to protect these creatures from disappearance. They now number over 2000. Another highlight of your Zanzibar Island trip is a visit to the spice farms where you can learn about the unique uses and harvesting techniques of the zings and perhaps, taste some rare varieties of fruit like shoki-shoki, durian and bungo among others.

The Zanzibar Stone Town tour guide was superlative. He was outstanding and gave us undivided attention. We felt that was great value and to be escorted round the market place and slave stations was like walking in a living museum.

I booked my safari holiday through AfricanMecca. They were the most helpful company I have ever dealt with and I work within the travel industry. I had the most amazing time. The holiday went as clockwork with no hitches anywhere.

We have returned from our African adventure and would like to thank you very much for your part in making this such a wonderful experience. We were lucky enough to time the Great Migration from the Serengeti, which was amazing.
Denise Paterson - Belmont, Australia
Ras Nungwi was a beautiful property, the pristine white beach not more than forty feet from our lovely room, the Indian Ocean sublime. Raza, it was the vacation of a lifetime, again, thanks so much.
