HAKUNA MAJIWE LODGE IN ZANZIBAR
Your dream East African seaside vacation begins as soon as you arrive at the Hakuna Majiwe Lodge on the Paje Beach and step barefoot into the soft, powdery sands that tickle your toes. This economy hotel gives you a true taste of island living when in paradisiacal southeastern Zanzibar (where else to stay with AfricanMecca). All of its common areas are located on the beachfront and have an agreeable rustic ambience with their thatched roofs, rough-hewn wooden furniture woven with ropes and colorful Swahili coastal fabrics adorning the throw pillows. Order a cocktail at the bar and sip it leisurely beside the curvaceous pool. Or, you might nap in one of the rope swing scattered around under parasols of makuti thatch. Revel in the stunning panorama of the Indian Ocean from the patio of your villa, 20 of which are offered by the Hakuna Majiwe Lodge for like-minded value guests. Along with chairs, your patio also has a swing bed where you can enjoy a serene holiday siesta. Walk on the sands to reach the flat platform on which your villa is built with white walls and low-hanging thatch that add to the coolness of the soft ocean breezes that waft in. Wooden rafters hold up the roof while the floors are paved with wooden slats covered with area rugs. Each room has either twin or a double bed covered with mosquito netting along with a small seating arrangement and ceiling fan. The ensuite bathrooms have mud walls and come with a shower area and bidet. The accommodation’s restaurant is a part of the lounge and bar, and here, you can dine on flavorsome meals that include African and Italian cuisine. Using the Hakuna Majiwe as a base, you can go traveling to explore the many charms of the island. Zanzibar’s capital is Stone Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where you can view many wonderful cultural and architectural relics, each of which talk about a different era in the island’s past such as the House of Wonders, Sultan’s Palace, Forodhani Gardens, Tippu Tip House and many more. You could also shop in the ancient bazaars and buy souvenirs to remind you of your Tanzania island trip. Tour the Jozani Forest Reserve to view an unusual primate, the red colobus monkey in its natural habitat of rare plants and trees that also house many varieties of insects, amphibians, reptiles and many more fascinating creatures. Visit the renowned spice farms with your AfricanMecca guide where you will see the many organic growing seasonings like cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, ginger, turmeric and anise, to name a few. You will be delighted to see them in their natural, unprocessed form and even learn about the medicinal elixirs that can be made from them. From Hakuna Majiwe Lodge, you could also go scuba diving at Mnemba Atoll and snorkeling around distinct marine reserves of Zanzibar e.g. Chumbe Island Coral Park. Here, you will be able to view an incredible aquatic world filled with seemingly endless reefs of coral of breathtaking hues and shapes. You will be astounded to see the diversity of reef life like sea anemones, seahorses, wrasses, clownfish, starfish, lionfish, angelfish, dolphins, mollusks and countless others. The deep-water locations further out to sea are home to countless varieties of game fish, and you could spend a thrilling afternoon of angling aboard one of the fishing boats you can hire.

The Zanzibar Stone Town tour guide was superlative. He was outstanding and gave us undivided attention. We felt that was great value and to be escorted round the market place and slave stations was like walking in a living museum.

I booked my safari holiday through AfricanMecca. They were the most helpful company I have ever dealt with and I work within the travel industry. I had the most amazing time. The holiday went as clockwork with no hitches anywhere.

We have returned from our African adventure and would like to thank you very much for your part in making this such a wonderful experience. We were lucky enough to time the Great Migration from the Serengeti, which was amazing.
Denise Paterson - Belmont, Australia
Ras Nungwi was a beautiful property, the pristine white beach not more than forty feet from our lovely room, the Indian Ocean sublime. Raza, it was the vacation of a lifetime, again, thanks so much.
