CORAL ROCK HOTEL IN ZANZIBAR
Perched on the rim of a rocky ledge on one of the sprightliest southeast beaches in Zanzibar, Jambiani Beach, the Coral Rock Hotel is an agreeable, no-frills accommodation. Adorned with East African figurines and other carved curios in a backdrop of lush tropical vegetation, this seashore vacationing stayover offers breathtaking views over the shimmering Indian Ocean. On low tides, you will also have access to the beach below with its pristine, soft powdery sands where you can go on leisurely walks or simply relax in the rope daybeds. The triangular swimming pool is perfect for cooling off and enjoying idle dips in the shade of the verdant trees. Each of the 18 rooms offered by Coral Rock is air-conditioned and faces the ocean. It also includes a ceiling fan, safety deposit box and is serviced by a backup power supply. Located in little bungalows of one or two floors, the thatched roofs, rough-hewn wooden railings, stonework detailing, picture frames and other decorative items add an island living touch to the laidback holiday ambience of the hotel. Some of the rooms have patios while others come with verandahs to enjoy the floral serenity and sea views. Walk along paved pathways to reach the rooms in four categories such as Deluxe Rooms and Deluxe Triple Rooms. The Triple Rooms come with a queen sized bed and an additional single bed or three beds. You could also choose from the Superior Rooms and Family Quad Room with the option of an interlinked room to sleep up to seven AfricanMecca lodgers. The hotel restaurant and bar, also on the rock edge is a fine location to enjoy the unpretentious, wholesome multi-cuisine meals. You can also order drinks here and watch the TV with satellite connection. Take a break from the lazy siestas on Jambiani Beach at Coral Rock Hotel and travel around Zanzibar Island to explore its many attractions. A trip to Jozani Forest will introduce you to a rare primate, the red colobus monkey. Watch these fascinating creatures as they groom their young, forage for food or nap in the shades. You could also tour the spice farms where you will see varieties of seasonings like cinnamon, cloves, anise, ginger, turmeric and cardamom, to name a scarce few. Your AfricanMecca guide will talk to you about their many uses in the traditional medicine aside from flavoring food. The capital of the island city, Stone Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site of Tanzania, and here you can view the old merchant houses covered with lichen and old plaster and many cultural, historical and architectural wonders such as the Beit Al Ajaib, Anglican Church, Beit Al Sahel, Tippu Tip House and many more. Also, enjoy shopping in the old bazaars in the narrow alleyways of the old town. The calm waters of the Indian Ocean conceal a surreal world of underwater treasures, the coral gardens with their many hues and shapes. Trip out on a reef diving excursion around Zanzibar or a snorkeling voyage, and view corals like staghorn, brain, convoluted and other species hosting delightful aquatic creatures like starfish, sea anemones, seahorses, wrasses, and Spanish Dancers, among others. You can also go deep sea fishing at the designated sites around Zanzibar aboard a specialized built boat under the supervision of the experienced skipper.

The Zanzibar Stone Town tour guide was superlative. He was outstanding and gave us undivided attention. We felt that was great value and to be escorted round the market place and slave stations was like walking in a living museum.

I booked my safari holiday through AfricanMecca. They were the most helpful company I have ever dealt with and I work within the travel industry. I had the most amazing time. The holiday went as clockwork with no hitches anywhere.

We have returned from our African adventure and would like to thank you very much for your part in making this such a wonderful experience. We were lucky enough to time the Great Migration from the Serengeti, which was amazing.
Denise Paterson - Belmont, Australia
Ras Nungwi was a beautiful property, the pristine white beach not more than forty feet from our lovely room, the Indian Ocean sublime. Raza, it was the vacation of a lifetime, again, thanks so much.
