DONGWE OCEAN VIEW HOTEL IN ZANZIBAR
On the southeastern coast of Zanzibar (where to stay) is the Bwejuu Beach, a beautiful locale with powdery soft sands gently embraced by the tepid waves of the Indian Ocean that gleams a stunning turquoise before you. In the Dongwe section of this fine East African seaside is the namesake Dongwe Ocean View Hotel, an economy vacationing accommodation. White structures reflecting the sands of the beach surround the swimming pool where you can enjoy a cool-off swim or simply sunbathe beside in loungers. The hotel has two decks over the beachfront, one with loungers while the other, covered with thatched roofs serves as the restaurant. You could also spend time in the Clubhouse that has a library and TV-viewing lounge. You will be staying in one of the 18 rooms housed in three-story buildings that charm you with their unpretentious comfort. The rooms on the lower level come with a patio while those on the upper floors have a verandah. Floor to ceiling doors allow in the magnificent vistas of the ocean while wickerwork furniture graces the rooms. The air-conditioned rooms have mosquito nets that cover the beds, ceiling fan and safety deposit box. Should you need a mini-fridge for the duration of your seashore holiday, you can request for one at the reception. The ensuite bathrooms come with a shower area. Solo or two AfricanMecca guests can choose from the 14 Double Rooms while the 2 Family Rooms are spacious enough for families. Budget couples celebrating their romantic nuptials can stay in the 2 Honeymoon Suites.Enjoy wholesome meals cooked with a homely touch in the resort’s restaurant while enjoying the incredible, ever-changing views of the ocean and soothing breezes wafting through the palm trees. When not reveling in long walks on the seashore, you could go swimming or scuba diving and snorkeling at the surrounding reefs or in the northeastern of the island at Mnemba Atoll. There are several designated sites around Zanzibar that are perfect for viewing the enchanting coral gardens of the ocean e.g. Chumbe. Here, you could see a breathtaking range of reef creatures like starfish, seahorses, sea anemones, Spanish dancers, wrasses and many more. You could also spend time angling on one of the fishing boats under the direction of the experienced skipper in the deep-water sites around the island. Back on shore, travel around the famed Stone Town and your experienced AfricanMecca guide will show you around the many olden lichen-covered merchant houses and other historical-cultural buildings like the Anglican Church, Beit Al Ajaib, Tippu Tip House, Forodhani Gardens and Beit Al Sahel to name a few. Also, go on a shopping trip in the ancient bazaars of this UNESCO World Heritage town. Tour the Jozani Forest for a primate-viewing experience where you can meet the rare Kirk’s red colobus monkey. Listen with fascination as your local Tanzanian guide talks to you about their behavior and habits. During your leisure days at Dongwe Ocean View Hotel, you must also visit the Zanzibar spice and fruit farms where you will be able to learn their unique uses and harvesting techniques of seasonings like cinnamon, cardamom, turmeric, cloves, anise and many more. Fruits like shoki-shoki, durian, bungo, custard apple, paw-paw and fenesi are only some of the varieties found here.

The Zanzibar Stone Town tour guide was superlative. He was outstanding and gave us undivided attention. We felt that was great value and to be escorted round the market place and slave stations was like walking in a living museum.

We have returned from our African adventure and would like to thank you very much for your part in making this such a wonderful experience. We were lucky enough to time the Great Migration from the Serengeti, which was amazing.
Denise Paterson - Belmont, Australia
Ras Nungwi was a beautiful property, the pristine white beach not more than forty feet from our lovely room, the Indian Ocean sublime. Raza, it was the vacation of a lifetime, again, thanks so much.
