Located opposite the Mnemba Island, also an underwater coral conservation reserve, is the Matemwe Beach on the northeast of Zanzibar Island, a pleasant site for a seaside vacation. The Green and Blue Ocean Lodge sited offer a mid-range stayover for like-minded AfricanMecca holidayers. It is a lovely estate with well-kept tropical green gardens blooming with colorful flowers. The powdery white sands of the coastline and the gorgeous turquoise blue of the Indian Ocean form a picturesque backdrop for lazy siestas in the sun, either beside the lodge’s three swimming pools or on the sands. You could also spend time at their spa and revel in massages. The lodge offers just 14 villas and bungalows to vacationers looking for a deluxe accommodation. Ten of these bungalows are sited around the swimming pools or garden and offer pleasant views of its subject. There are three Oceanfront Bungalows with one being right by the beachfront. The Luxury Ocean Front Villa is also located on the beach and affords a secluded outdoor section to lounge on. Thatched palm leaves provide natural cooling shelter. Each of the villas has two levels. On the first is the main bedroom with an attached bathroom and a sitting area indoors and another on the terrace, best for suitable for children. You will also have your own plunge pool to cool-off during the day. The upper level has a second room that can sleep two more guests, best suited for families with children.
The Green and Blue Ocean Lodge restaurant is located in a thatched roof structure facing the ocean and has two floors. You can enjoy memorable delectable meals flavored with the fresh spices grown on the island. Spend your days relaxing on the sands or exploring the magnificent coral reef gardens at Mnemba Atoll by way of scuba diving and snorkeling trips. If you enjoy fishing, there are various deep water sites around this and other East African islands where you can try your casting talent. But, Zanzibar has a lot more to offer than just the enjoyment of the beaches, sun and sea on your AfricanMecca dream trip. Its capital, Stone Town is a UNESCO World Heritage site and has many remnants of the island's diverse history. Enjoy wandering through its labyrinth streets where petite stores sell you a range of traditional wares like coastal kitenge textiles, delicate bead trinkets, spices, delicate handcrafted curios, zests and unusual fruits. View some interesting specimens of fenesi, durians, shoki-shoki and many more. Stone Town is also the site for awe-inspiring cultural and historical structural wonders like Tippu Tip House, Beit Al Ajaib, Beit Al Sahel, Forodhani Gardens and Anglican Church to name a few. Another must-do on your Tanzanian travel itinerary is to go on a primate-viewing excursion to the Jozani Forest Reserve in the preserved heart of Zanzibar. Here, you can watch the rare Kirk’s colobus monkey in its natural territory. Your knowledgeable guide will talk to you about its behavior and also the names and properties of the flora you see. Also, tour the enlightening spice and fruit farmsteads that the island is so famous for.
