AZANZI BEACH HOTEL IN ZANZIBAR
The Azanzi Beach Hotel is a tightly-packed build, mid-range accommodation located on the northeast of Zanzibar Island (read more on other places to stay). Offering easy access to Matemwe Beach, this hotel is made of a collection of rooms spread on both sides of the property with an aquatic border. Landscaped gardens and wooden walkways leading between the rooms give it a pleasing ambience while makuti thatch on the roof reminds you of its Tanzanian island location on the Swahili coast. It also has a swimming pool, lounge and restaurant overlooking the glistening waters of the azure Indian Ocean. You could also wander on the seashore with the powdery soft sands sinking below your feet or enjoy sunbathing sessions on it. The resort also has a spa for massages. Azanzi has 35 suites and villas for you to choose from for your island vacation stayover with AfricanMecca. The rooms are furnished with mosquito netting covered beds, carved chests and side tables while beautiful rugs grace the floor. The eight Standard Suites are located closest to the entrance of the hotel, and the twelve Luxury Suites are housed in structures of three each. Family holidayers with up to two kids can opt for interconnecting suites, but you can book them individually too. If you would rather stay in a distinct villa, you can choose from the nine Villas that come with outdoor showers. A fourth option is the six Deluxe Villas that also feature a Jacuzzi.
The rooms at Azanzi Beach Hotel are all air-conditioned and include a minibar and supplies for making tea and coffee. Enjoy delicious well-cooked meals at their beachfront restaurant with stunning views of the ocean. Later, browse through their boutique and look for Zanzibari souvenirs to take home from your trip. For some more interesting shopping forays, you must visit the ancient bazaars of Stone Town, the capital of Zanzibar. Here, you can haggle to your heart's content and pick up delicate bead jewelry including Tanzanite gems, colorful Swahili textiles, gorgeous handmade artifacts, spices and many more. You can also view the unusual fruits that Zanzibar is famous for. Look for durian, bungo, shoki-shoki and fenesi laid out with the more familiar custard apples, oranges, bananas and mangos. If you would like to see the spices and fruits growing in their natural form, sightsee the farm estates of Zanzibar. Here, you will learn about the many harvesting techniques and even taste the raw, unprocessed spices. Also, excursion out to the Jozani Forest Reserve for a primate-viewing expedition. You can watch the rare red colobus monkeys foraging for food and grooming their young. The forest also hosts many rare specimens of flora, insects and amphibians. Enjoy taking pictures of the many colorful butterflies you see flitting around. Back at Stone Town, your AfricanMecca guide will take you on a cultural tour where you can view the architectural and historical relics of bygone Zanzibar. These imposing structures each tells a different tale of the island's impulsive past. You must also add an East African underwater discovery travel by going snorkeling and scuba diving in the coral gardens of Mnemba. And, if you enjoy angling, there are several deep-water fishing sites in Zanzibar you could test your skills at.

The Zanzibar Stone Town tour guide was superlative. He was outstanding and gave us undivided attention. We felt that was great value and to be escorted round the market place and slave stations was like walking in a living museum.

I booked my safari holiday through AfricanMecca. They were the most helpful company I have ever dealt with and I work within the travel industry. I had the most amazing time. The holiday went as clockwork with no hitches anywhere.

We have returned from our African adventure and would like to thank you very much for your part in making this such a wonderful experience. We were lucky enough to time the Great Migration from the Serengeti, which was amazing.
Denise Paterson - Belmont, Australia
Ras Nungwi was a beautiful property, the pristine white beach not more than forty feet from our lovely room, the Indian Ocean sublime. Raza, it was the vacation of a lifetime, again, thanks so much.
