MVUVI RESORT IN ZANZIBAR
Navigation Tip - Go Directly To Prices, Reviews, Map, Photos, Video & Room Rate Guide For Mvuvi Resort
The Mvuvi Resort on Kiwengwa Beach in eastern Zanzibar has everything you might look for in for a no-frills seaside vacation. A gorgeous, tranquil setting of white sand beaches, gently lapping waves, the shimmering Indian Ocean spread before you, augmented by enchanting greenery. When the tide is low, you could walk on the exposed sandbank or swim in the sea at high tide. The atmosphere of the accommodation is very casual with a decor that combines elements of rustic East Africa coast and traditional Swahili culture. White walls make up the hotel’s exteriors and interiors while stone detailing and sections of an old ngalawa give it character. The thatched roof of the common areas gives you the feel of island living while the salt-water swimming pool is good for leisurely dips in between relaxed siestas under umbrellas in the tropical Tanzanian warmth of the sun. The Mvuvi Resort has just 6 rooms for AfricanMecca holidayers looking for a smaller, personalized economy stayover. Their air-conditioned rooms are housed in a two-story structure with patios on the lower floor and verandahs on the upper floors. Wooden furniture is placed on them for you to enjoy the vistas of the ocean. Modest furnishings add to the appeal of the rooms such as carved Zanzibari beds covered with diaphanous mosquito netting, side tables, chairs and other pieces. There is also a small seating arrangement to relax in. The attached bathrooms also have stone detailing and include double basins, bidet, hairdryer and shower. Some of these rooms are spacious enough so three to four lodgers can sleep comfortably.
Mvuvi Resort serves you scrumptious, wholesome fare in their restaurant located on the upper level of the common area. Enjoy different cuisines on your trip flavored with Zanzibari spices. The Beach Bar is on the lower floor and takes orders for drinks and cocktails. Besides the stunning beaches, the island of Unguja has much to offer every kind of traveler. There is an opportunity to fish leisurely for your dinner or primarily go out in search of billfish. There are many designated locations off the coast that teem with an amazing variety of game fish all the year round. Or, if you enjoy to scuba dive and snorkel or would like to try it out for the first time in Zanzibar, the underwater coral marine reserves with their breathtaking beauty and diversity of reef denizens will completely mesmerize you e.g. diving at Mnemba Atoll. On shore, fauna and flora lovers can visit the Jozani Forest, the conservation area set in the heart of the island. This area is home to the Kirk’s red colobus monkey that is recovering from the threat of complete loss. The forest also houses many kinds of insects, reptiles and amphibians that you will enjoy photographing. Culture aficionados will appreciate touring the attractions of Stone Town, a quaint UNESCO World Heritage Site. There are many architectural and historical wonders here that will enliven you. You could also go shopping in the traditional bazaars much like yesteryear Swahili residents and pick up handcrafted curios as mementos. Visit the spice and unique fruit estates where you can view the farmed spices in their raw form. Listen in fascination as your AfricanMecca guide reveals to you the almost magical healing properties of the zests, in addition to their uses in devout rituals and cosmetic coloring.

The Zanzibar Stone Town tour guide was superlative. He was outstanding and gave us undivided attention. We felt that was great value and to be escorted round the market place and slave stations was like walking in a living museum.

We have returned from our African adventure and would like to thank you very much for your part in making this such a wonderful experience. We were lucky enough to time the Great Migration from the Serengeti, which was amazing.
Denise Paterson - Belmont, Australia
Ras Nungwi was a beautiful property, the pristine white beach not more than forty feet from our lovely room, the Indian Ocean sublime. Raza, it was the vacation of a lifetime, again, thanks so much.
