Dar es Salaam Beaches
North Coast Located about 25-30 km north of the city on the Kunduchi area. The beach hotels located on this part of the beach are Bahari Beach, Whitesands, Jangwani Sea Breeze, Kunduchi and Silversands - all offering a variety of water sports along this attractive stretch of the Tanzanian coast.
City Area Coco Beach at Oyster Bay is popular and a good swimming beach mostly visited by the locals. The Oyster Bay Hotel overlooks the beach. The Yacht Club at Msasani Peninsula has a private beach. Although the club is for members only, it is possible to get temporary membership.
South Coast Ras Kutani lies on an Indian Ocean beach adjacent to a unique fresh water lagoon; a four kilometre crescent of white sand and gentle surf, cooled by tropical trade winds. Ras Kutani is the perfect hideaway in which to relax after an exciting safari. For those who prefer a more active stay, there are facilities for sailing, windsurfing, snorkeling and fishing. We highly recommend Ras Kutani - it offers long stretches of pristine deserted beach, warm blue seas, and an opportunity to experience peace and tranquility within you given its perfect hideaway, far from the madding beach crowd.
