Lake Elementaita - Kenya
Lake Elementaita is Soda Ash Lake and is spelt is various ways: Elementeita, Elmentaita, Elementeita, or Elementaita. Although situated on private land it can be visited and is often home to tens of thousands of flamingo. The lake is a 90 minute drive from Nairobi, and about 40 km from Lake Naivasha. It is a small soda lake totaling to 18 sq km in size, and is located on the eastern side of the Great Rift Valley.

The lake is home to flamingoes, Great White Pelicans and Great Crested Grebe and many more. It also homes zebra, gazelle, eland and families of warthog.

At Lake Elementaita, activities include horse ridding, bird viewing and visit to the natural warm spa that flows into the lake

The only hotel located by the lake is Lake Elementaita Lodge, which is managed by the Friends of Lake Nakuru and Elementaita Conservation Project, and was formerly known as Kekopey Ranch, built by English settler Lord Gaibraith Cole.
